We finally got one of them. Now with that one out of the way Ewido should get the other one

Update Ewido

Please reboot into safe mode Safe mode(continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).

Now sacn with Ewido. Make sure it is set to scan all files. Please save the log

close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

Now click click fix checked

Reboot and post a new Hijack log and the Ewido log

Disconnect from the internet

Please disable spyware doctor and your norton Anti-virus until after we are done with this fix

rescan with hijack this and check the following

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

Click fix checked

Reboot and post another log Renable spyware doctor and your norton Anti-virus

Are you still getting Aurora pop-ups?

Sorry SLM

RIGHT click the spyware doctor icon in your system tray (lower right hand corner) then left click exit

do the same for norton (it will say disable auto protect or something similar)they should both be running again after you reboot .

One thing that wont go still but I think spybot was Preventing it.
One more try and lets see if it goes. I will give you a few more tools to prevent this when we get this one last thing :tazz:

While TeaTimer is an excellent tool for the prevention of spyware, it can sometimes prevent HijackThis from fixing certain things.
Please disable TeaTimer for now until you are clean. TeaTimer can be re-activated once your HijackThis log is clean.
  • Open Spybot Search & Destroy.
  • In the Mode menu click "Advanced mode" if not already selected.
  • Choose "Yes" at the Warning prompt.
  • Expand the "Tools" menu.
  • Click "Resident".
  • Uncheck the "Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of overall system settings) active." box.
  • In the File menu click "Exit" to exit Spybot Search & Destroy.
Disable Spyware doctor and Norton again

Now rescan with Hijack this and put a check next to the following


F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe


Now close any open windows Except for Hijack this and then click fix checked

Post a new Hijack this log

Well its still there. Im going to have to ask for second opinions on why this wont leave. I have to go to work now but will try to respond later tonight.

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond.....maybe if I didnt have to work :tazz:

Oh well.

Do you get an error message when you reboot along the lines of "windows cannot find Nail.exe" I need to find out if that file is gone. I know you dont want to do this but if you dont get the above error message I need one more scan with Ewido.

Reboot to safemode must be run in safemode
continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu

Make sure it is set to scan all files and folders and these

Binder:
Crypter:
Archives:

All are set to yes...

Now do a full system scan

Now rescan with Hijack this and put a check next to the following


F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe


Now close any open windows Except for Hijack this and then click fix checked

Reboot and post a hijack log and the Ewido log ;)

Dont give up on me now ;)

No problem, I too have to work, so am only getting to your reply today. There is no error message about not finding Nail.exe. I was going to run Ewido again, but, while the binder and crypter are checked, the archives does not allow me to check the box, should I still do the scan? Thanks, SLM
