ok here is my problem: everything was working perfectly ok until i install mcafee. my internet stop working after i install it and reset it. i treid to unstall it and hope everything will work again but i was wrong. I tried system restore but it still dont work. i turn off all fire wall and it still dont work. i tired to go on cmd but it show a 16 bit error. i right click LAN and click properties and the click properites for the ip/tcp and change the ip address to 192.168.1 and the default gateway 192.168.0.1 and it still dont work. i even tried to make a new account for my comp and it still dont work.

im using a router, SBC yahoo dsl, and it happen at june 20, 2005




edit: i also tried to do this winsockXP fix and it still dont work!!!!! ;)

Have also seen the message “unable to contact DHCP server”

first, change your LAN settings back to automatic. second, open the cmd prompt and type ipconfig /all and copy/paste what it says.

the automatic lan setting doesnt work and the cmd prompt doestnt work. the comd prompt show the l16 bit ms dos subsytem.

the system file is not sutiable for running ms dos and mircrosoft windows apllication. choose close to terminate the aplliication

do you have a network connection icon next to your clock? the two little screen?
if not go to your network conenction and put a tick in that box "show icon in notification area when connected".

now double click on those two little screens and click on the Support tab, that will show you your IP address and all other info's

let us know of your findings as this might help in troubleshooting.

it didnt show any ip address, all it said is invailid ip address.

Ip address: 0.0.0.0
subnet maske 0.0.0.0


plz help!

Are you obtaining IP Automatically?

Are you using a router?
