I support several hundred mostly XP machines, and I've occasionally experienced a mysterious problem on certain machines, that has evaded all attempts to resolve it.

When the system is performing an FTP function (file listing, upload, download, etc.), if the mouse is not kept in motion over the application, the FTP function will stall and eventually timeout. If the mouse is kept in motion over the application, though, it proceeds normally. I've found very little info regarding this problem but it does seem to be out there.
