Hello,
As the name says, I'm new to the forum, and trying to rid myself of popups. I currently have/use Counterspy and AdAware, and they've done all they can do.
I've downloaded hijack this, and run the logfile below. Any help is appreciated.

Hi newtoforum and welcome to GeeksToGo! My name is Excal and I will be helping you.

I can see that you have some malware issues. This maybe a few step process in removing it. I encourage you to stick with it and follow my directions as closely as possible so as to avoid complicating the problem further.

DOWNLOAD PROGRAMS

Download and install CleanUp! Here*NOTE* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups.
We will use this program later.

THE FIX

Please read this post completely, it may make it easier for you if you copy and paste this post to a new text document or print it for reference later.

1. Click this link to be sure you can view hidden files.

2. Ensure you are NOT connected to the internet.

3. Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

4. Close all browsers, windows and unneeded programs.

5. Open HiJack and do a scan.

6. Put a Check next to the following items:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dejwp] C:\WINDOWS\dejwp.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [seeve] C:\WINDOWS\SEEVE.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [motoin] C:\WINDOWS\MM15201518.STUB.EXE

7. click the Fix Checked box

8. Please remove these entries from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel(if present):

DelfinMedia Viewer
Mediamotors

9. Please remove just the files from the following paths using Windows Explorer (if present):

C:\WINDOWS\dejwp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SEEVE.exe
C:\WINDOWS\MM15201518.STUB.EXE

10. Run the program CleanUp!

11. Reboot into normal mode and please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan - Save the results from the scan!

12. Please post the Active scan log and a fresh HiJackThis log. Let me know how your computer is running.

Thank you Excal. I'll post the logs when I'm done. Might not be until tomorrow, since they do take awhile and I've got to head to work soon.

The spyware shown in Activescan is not being removed by either CounterSpy or Ad-Aware. I also downloaded a Gator removal tool, and it doesn't find the Gator program shown by Activescan. Any ideas?

Thanks again.

Please don't try to fix anything your self. Some of the "tools" that are deigned to "remove" problems for oyu computer, actually add more hidden stuff. I can assure you I will come up with a solution to a problem, you just got to give me a chance :tazz:

Delete Folders indicated in BLUE if they still exist.

C:\WINDOWS\hosts

Just a few random bad files to clean up.
  • Open HiJackThis
  • Click on the configure button on the bottom right
  • Click on the tab "Misc Tools"
  • Click on "Delete File on Reboot"
  • Navigate to this file - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\KOYLIMIT.DLL
  • Double click on that file.
  • HJT asks you if you want to reboot, now. Click "no".

Do that for the following files also, until you get to the last one, then click "yes" when HJT asks you to reboot.

C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\CONFLICT.1\HDPlugin1019.dll
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\CONFLICT.1\HDPlugin1019.inf
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\m67m.ocx
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\m67m.inf
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\QDow.dll
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\ATPartners.inf
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\CONFLICT.2\HDPlugin1019.dll

reboot

You possible have a l2m infection. I will know for sure after you post this log. Please don't reboot once you posted that log, the files will change and we will have to start all over.

Download Findit Here and unzip the contents to a folder. When it has unzipped, open that folder and double click on Find.bat. It will run for a while, so be patient, and then produce a log (ignore any File not found messages on the screen, it should continue anyway).

Please copy and paste that log here.

From the moment you post your list, until you see a detailed fix written up, DO NOT reboot your system or log off. If you do, the files will have changed and the fix provided will not work.

Hi Excal,
I can navigate to the KOYLIMIT file on Hijack This, but I can't find any of the files you've listed in Downloaded Program Files. In fact, when I'm navigating to them in Hijack This, it selected the whole Downloaded Program Files folder to remove! Yikes! Suggestions?
Thanks

Its ok ;) It won't delete a folder and plus it makes backups ;)

If you can't find the files, don't worry about it, we will take a diffrent approach after you do the second part of that post.

Thanks,

Yep, that was it. I just ran it again:

Warning! This utility will find legitimate files in addition to malware.
