I've managed to pretty much wipe out most of the nasty adware, spyware, etc. using your tips and many of the tools (Adaware, Spybot, CWShredder, TD3.) I was a bit hasty in using HiJackThis and did some fixes without consulting the Guru's first. So, here's the log file for your inspection. I'm much appreciative of your expertise in this field and look forward to, with your help, setting a torch to these TROJ_***.

Regards,

Robert

Welcome RWelther to Geeks to Go!

Fine collection you have there. Let's start cleaning..

We need to make sure all hidden files are showing so please:* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.
***

Please download the Killbox.
Unzip it to the desktop but do NOT run it yet.

***

Download CleanUp!.
If that doesn’t work, use this link.
Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows:
*Click "Options..."
*Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
*Put a check next to the following:
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Cookies
  • Delete Prefetch files
  • Scan local drives for temporary files
  • Cleanup! All Users
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

Once it's done, press Close.

***

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8 (maybe F5 on a Dell).
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.co.../safemode.shtml

***

Using Windows Explorer, delete the following (please do NOT try to find them by "search" because they will not show up that way)

FOLDERS to delete (in bold) if found:

C:\Program Files\BTV\
C:\Program Files\WeirdOnTheWeb\
C:\Program Files\nrpn\
C:\program files\tvs\
C:\program files\VBouncer\

Download MWAW
Doubleclick the file.

This scan takes around 3 hours to finish when set to scan everything.

Put a check next to the items below before scanning:

*Memory
*Startup Folders
*Drive - All Local Drives
*Folder - then click "browse" to change the directory to C: (default is C:\Windows)
*Registry
*System Folders
*Services
*Include Sub-Directory
*Scan All Files

Please make sure ALL of these are checked, then press the scan button. This will take hours to complete.

**NOTE*** Sometimes MWav will pause and it appears to be finished, but it isn't done. Just let it run.

Highlight the portion of the scan that lists infected items and hold CTRL + C to Copy then paste it here. The whole log with be extremely big so there is no way to copy the whole thing. I just need the infected items list.

***

Post the report from Ewido here in your reply, together with the list of infected files from MWAW and a fresh log using HijackThis.

Please read these instructions carefully. You may want to print them. Copy the text to a Notepad file and save it to your desktop! We will need the file later.
Be sure to follow ALL instructions!

***

Reboot the computer to save mode.

***

Use Windows Explorer to remove these folders:
C:\Program files\Fla\
E:\My Documents\My Webs\

***

Run Killbox.
Select "Delete on Reboot".

Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program files\clientax.dll
C:\WINDOWS\orlvzuv.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\bsva-egihsg52.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\btnetw3_venturahot_246765.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\InstallEx.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\ujhflg.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\weirdontheweb_ventura.exe
C:\WINDOWS\woinstall.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\kpjjkk.exe
c:\windows\system32\ffjjvyu.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mv8ol9l31.dll

Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

Let the system reboot to safe mode again.

***

Open HijackThis
Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\System32\kpjjkk.exe reg_run

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [cpfinmp] c:\windows\system32\ffjjvyu.exe r

O20 - Winlogon Notify: H323TSP - C:\WINDOWS\system32\mv8ol9l31.dll

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running.
Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

***

Reboot the system to normal mode.

***

Please download FindQoologic from here:
http://forums.net-in...=post&id=134981
Save it to the desktop and run Find-Qoologic2.bat. This will generate a log file; please post the entire contents of the log file here for me to see.

Had a few problems....

Apparently during my prior attempt to clear up the problem before seeking professional assitance, I was careless when using Spybot and it seems to have allowed the O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\System32\kpjjkk.exe reg_run to remain after reboot. I think I've cleared up this issue.

Secondly, the FindQoologic.bat errors out and won't run.

Here's the latest Hijack log for your review and suggestions.

Thanks for all the help. I am leaving town for a week so this thread will go idle until I return after July 5th.

Regards,

Robert

Let's see if anything is in the way.

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

At first the program hiccuped and reported and error and then the log poped open...Happy scanning. Some beer money is on the way.

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

After doing all of the above, please run this online scan:
http://www.kaspersky...oduct=161744315

Save the results of the scan and post it here.

And please run Ewido once in safe mode. Safe that log too and post it in your reply.

Thanks. I will try these procedures when I return from my trip in about a week. Hopefully by then someone will have broken into my office and stolen the computer :tazz:

I'll post next results around July 6th.
