When you say icon, do you mean desktop icon? because that error is for internet explorer. I have a simple way to fix the problem if it does occur while using Internet Explorer.

It seems that file is corrupted or what it is trying to read is corrupted. Could you post the syntax error that IE gives you? If it's the same then it is your IE is trying to run off of corrupted history. I don't know to much about this but i found an article you could read. Microsoft Help I'm sure another person with more knowledge about this problem will come along. If I find any information I will post it for you. In the meantime i'm ganna read up on this and some other dilemas. I wish you good luck.

Here is a better rundown on the multitude of problems.

1. Most of my desktop icons produce Bad image box as described above
2. IE comes up with a syntax error for every web site(using firefox atm)
3. Nortons, adaware, and spybot all produce the bad image box and will not run.
4. All attempts to connect to any of the major download sites come back connection refused.
5.I am screwed :tazz:
