I just thought i would see if anyone else has had a similar problem, i have an old t20 laptop and recently the drive has stopped working unless it is sitting on its side, which causes overheat as that side has no holes and heat goes up. Has anyone had this prob. its a long shot but this thing is inuriating as it was working and im curently trying to install xp on it which is testing my patience.

This computer seems to be telling you someting...the hard drive is about to go completely and it is giving you the opportunity to recover any data you want before it bites the dust. I would suggest replacing the hard drive.
