The way i install fonts is as follows: Start>Control Panel>Fonts. Once you have that folder open i always just copy the font file and paste it in there. it has worked for me ever since, hope this helps.

are you opening from explorer or control panel
it may not appear when you navigate to c:\windows\fonts, but does if you choose FONTS in control panel
If it still does not appear, download the windows xp power toys tweakui, then go to the repair section and choose REPAIR FONT FOLDER

I have two systems (work and home) with Windows 98. I tried to install a new font at home. I copied it to the font folder in Windows. Later went back to Control Panel and clicked on Fonts and saw it sitting there. Couldn't find it in the font list in Word. Went to Control Panel, clicked on Fonts, clicked on File, looking for "Install New Fonts". It wasn't listed. Went to work today. Opened Control Panel, clicked on Fonts, clicked on File and sure enough, there's the option I didn't have at home. The one at home does not have "Install New Fonts" as an option in the FILE list. The one at work does have that option. Now what?
