A few days ago I was surfing the web and recieved a pop up from a spyware eliminating service called the spysheriff and antivirus gold. I tried over and over again to close out of the programs but they kept coming back and eventually one of the programs took over my desktop display. The display read that my computer is infected with adware and I am unable to regain my original desktop display. Can anybody make any suggestions for getting rid of this problem?

<start>
<settings>
(or if you use the XP-menu)
<Tools>
<monitor> (that icon is a monitor with a painter on it)
<desktop>
<Desktop Enhanchements>
<go to the tab called Web>
And uncheck the Security V2 button or anything else.

That's how I got rid of the background
Also be sure you deleted Winnook, popupper and all those other nifty shifty programs from Anti-Virus GOLD and SpySherrif or that background might return.
