Hi all, I am working on a friends computer that has been giving him fits. I found this click searchclick bug and could use some help getting rid of it. I have run the lasted updated spybot, cleared out all temp internet files and done a system restore. After the system restore (setting back to 30 days ago) things look a lot better but would like an oppinion on what else needs to be done. Here is the latest Hijack this log.Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

Make sure you only apply service pack 1A, not service pack 2.

What kind of problems are you still having? I really don't see anything wrong in the log, except for lack of windows updates and an anti-viral product, which you need badly. Find a free one, such as AVG/Grisoft.

When you come back.

1. apply windows updates, per instructions.
2. Install a permanent anti-viral product.
3. Run this scan from panda and copy and paste the results:

http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm

4. Download Silent Runners
Unzip it to a permanent folder.
Start SilentRunners.vbs
When your antivirus is giving an alert, do not block this. Allow the script.
Copy and paste the content of the txtfile you get afterwards in your next reply.

5. New hijack this log. :tazz:

:tazz: Hi CW6,
Well I have been working at it for about 12 hours now! So far I have the service pack 1a downloaded & installed, The Grisoft AVG downloaded & installed and the Panda scan downloaded & it is scanning now. The AVG came up with over 100 trojans. I am out of time for tonight so will post the results of the scans when I get back at it tonight. Have a good one!

So what do you think? If it looks ok I will do a system restore snapshot now & hopefully will not let this computer get this fouled up again.

That concerns me that the panda scan did not finish.

Please download CleanUp! - Download - HomePage
Install and run. Click on the button labeled CleanUp!.

When it finishes it will prompt you to restart Windows - there will be one or two files it cannot delete when Windows is running - however, they will be deleted next time Windows starts up.

Try the Panda scan again. You need to use IE to download it and run it. You will be asked to install some active x

:tazz: Hi CW6, I take it you must work nights too, or are you just a night owl?
OK I got rid of the elite toolbar but that was the only item I could find. None of the other files could be located in explorer. So far tonight that computer has run flawlessly! For the most part I think it is fixed, unless you want me to try something else.

Download Killbox By Option^Explicit

http://forums.tomcoy...?showtopic=9904

Paste the full file path

C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\CONFLICT.1\MediaTicketsInstaller.INF
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\MediaTicketsInstaller.INF
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\auto_update_uninstall.log

in the box and click on Delete on Reboot. Next click on the button with the red circle and an X in the middle. You will get a message saying "File with be deleted on next reboot, Process and Reboot now?" Click "Yes" and post a new log when you have rebooted.
