Download Ewido Security Suite, install then from within the program check for updates BUT dont scan yet
Ewido Security Suite:

When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu". When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK.
We will fix this in a moment.

From the main Ewido screen, Click on Update in the left menu, then click the Start Update button.

After the Update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful"), Now close the program.

Open up HijackThis and Select Config>> Misc Tools

Open up Process Explorer and in the list of process>> Double Click "Winlogon.exe">> Click "Threads">> Scroll the list and locate>> "winstyle3.dll">> Click once and Click the "Kill" Tab

Back to HijackThis>> from the Misc Tools Section>> "Click Delete a file on reboot"

From the Explorer Window that pops up Navigate to

C:\WINDOWS\system32\winstyle3.dll<< Double Click and Allow the PC to Reboot

Reboot into SAFE MODE(Tap F8 when restarting)

Scan with Ewido>when prompted>Select to clean and place a check by the box to use this action for all infections!

Once it completes,Click the tab to Save the report and Save it to your Desktop for easy access!

Run MSCONFIG and enable everything in the startup area. To get to MSCONFIG, click on Start -> Run -> type in MSCONFIG -> click OK!

Under the "General" Tab
Make Sure Normal Startup is Checked!!

Click Apply>>Close>>Follow the Prompts to Restart!!

Restart Normal and have the PC Scanned here
Kaspersky Online Web Scanner

You will need to be using Internet Explorer for the Scan to work!

Save a Report of what Kaspersky finds!

Post back with a fresh HijackThis log and the reports from Ewido and Kaspersky!

Hi Cretemonster
there is a problem with the winlogon.exe>> click threads>>scroll to the list and locate>> winstyle3.dll
I can navigate to the winstyle3.dll but when I "kill" the process my computer "crashes" and a critical error shuts it down.
I followed everything else after this as best as I could and now my cws shredder is still finding cws.look2me and cws.xplugin
please help

Open Process Explorer>> Locate winstyle3.dll<< Right Click and Select "Suspend"

Leave Process Explorer and dont close it at anytime!

Copy&Paste the Text in the Code Box to a blank notepad page!

I had some trouble with suspending or deleting the winstyle3.dll
It seems that i can't find it in the threads section of winlogon.exe and then tried to kill it in the lower pane after double clicking the winlogon.exe process.
This shut my puter down twice !! I feel stupid. I just can't find the winstyle3.dll in the threads part to kill it properly first.

Open HiajackThis and Place a Check next to these

O20 - Winlogon Notify: clbcatex - C:\WINDOWS\system32\clbcatix.dll

O20 - Winlogon Notify: style2 - C:\WINDOWS\system32\winstyle3.dll

Make sure all Windows and Browsers are Closed and click "Fix Checked"

Open up Pocket Killbox Copy each entry below,one at a time into Killbox

C:\WINDOWS\system32\clbcatix.dll

C:\WINDOWS\system32\winstyle3.dll

Now,place a tick by these selections:

"Delete on Reboot"
"End Explorer Shell while Killing File"
"Unregister .dll before Deleting"

Once those are ticked,Click the Red Circle with the White X in the Middle to Delete!

On the first entry

Click "Yes" to Confirm

Click "No" to Reboot

Once at the last file

Click "Yes" to Confirm

Click "Yes" to Reboot


If you get a PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process! message then just restart manually.

Restart the PC in Normal Mode and Have it Scanned here
