Have you tried running the scans in safe mode?

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {2CDE1A7D-A478-4291-BF31-E1B4C16F92EB} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe

O4 - Startup: LimeWire On Startup.lnk = C:\Program Files\LimeWire\LimeWire.exe

O4 - Global Startup: SonnReg.lnk = C:\Program Files\E-Color\Registration\SonnReg.exe

O23 - Service: ISEXEng - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\angelex.exe (file missing)

Then reboot and post a new log.

The log is clean now. :tazz:

What is the date of the latest definitions of your NAV and what happens when you start a full system scan?

the last time (this morning) i tried to run a scan in reg. mode this is what the event log said: Scan could not access path C:\pagefile.sys

it just shuts down during virus scans, adware scans, even disk cleanup

any help is great!

So LiveUpdate is still working properly.

It is normal for scanners to be unable to access pagefile.sys which is the part of your HD that is in use as memory.

To rule out one unlikely option, can you please download, install and run RootkitRevealer from :
http://www.sysintern...itRevealer.html

Post the log it makes.

OK next option (and I hope I'm wrong)

Find the HD testing tool that is right for your computer here:
