MS Word 2003 - Page numbers do not print properly

In Word 2003, When I insert page numbers, they display correctly on the active document screen, but when i go to print preview the numbers display as {PAGE}. They print like this as well.

If anyone knows why this is happening, please let me know,

Ok go to
Tools>options>print tab and untick field codes click on ok
Has this worked?
