hi,

i was wondering if anyone knew about how to boost a site up in search engine results like google? (without having to pay or anything)
i think there's some html to do with it, like "keywords=___, ___" ..... but i'm not sure.

or is it determined by the # of people who click on your site thru search engine results?

for example, my friend and i operate a website www.allthatjas.net, a fansite dedicated to a music artist. we would like it if our site came up at least in the first page of the google results, as it is the best resource, best website for jasmine trias information anywhere.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Google like inbound links to your site. Especially with the search term in the URL or link. Post as many places as you can with a link to your site. If you're targeting the search term "jasmine trias information", use a link like this:

jasmine trias information
jasmine trias information

Also, download the Google Toolbar: http://toolbar.google.com/ Pay close attention to the PageRank. The higher your site's PageRank, the higher your results will be in search results. A page link to you from a site with a high PageRank will also have more relevance.

you can also use meta tags. Search engines look for these and certain keywords.

<html>

<head>
<title>Title of Your Site</title>
<meta name="description" content="Desciption of your site!">
<meta name="keywords" content="keywords that describe your site">
</head>
<body>
rest of your page goes here
</body>
</html>

good luck.....any questions let us know

Hi, just surfing through this thread and wondered if you could explain the bit about putting the search term in the link. Do you mean on your own web page? Or other peoples? I'm confused, but would like to know more!
