I keep fixing those two registry entries in Hijack This!, but after restarting they still appear. The system seems to be running OK. No popups or funky icons. It does seem a little sluggish, but I'm used to using a bit faster system anyway. It could just be my perception. Here's the newest log:

Your log looks clean except for those 023's. Lets try this

Download and run Service Filter:

[*]Please download ServiceFilter.
[*]Unzip ServiceFilter.zip to a convenient folder like C:\ServiceFilter.
[*]Navigate to where you unzipped it and double-click on ServiceFilter.vbs.
[*]If you have an active anti-virus it might prevent the script from starting. Please allow the script to run.
[*]It will open a text file (POST_THIS.TXT) that lists all of the irregular services.
[*]Press Ctrl + A simultaneously to select all of the text.
[*]Copy and paste the whole thing into your next post.
[*]A copy of POST_THIS.TXT is saved to where ServiceFilter.vbs was saved just in case you accidentally close out of it.

The script did not recognize the services listed below.
This does not mean that they are a problem.

At the top of this window click "Edit" then "Select All"
Next click "Edit" again then "Copy"
Now right click in the forum post box then click "Paste"

OK. With some help from bananafanafo follow the instructions below.

Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok Scroll down and find the below services:

stchost.exe (moto)
svchoct.exe (yuto)

*There are 2, so make sure to stop/disable both of them!

When you find them, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok.

Run HiJackThis. Click on "None of the above, just start the program". Now, click on the "Config" button (bottom right), then click on "Misc Tools", then click on "Delete an NT Service" a window will pop up. Enter the below item into that field (copy and paste):

moto

Click ok.

It should pull up information about the service, when it asks the "are you sure" question, click YES, When it asks if you want to reboot now click NO. Do the same thing for this one:

yuto

Except, this time when it asks if you want to reboot now click YES.

After reboot, post a new HiJackThis log.

As I said before, everything appears to be running OK. I did have one question. As you can see from my log file, I have a few anti-virus/malware protection programs running (AVG, Ewido, etc.). I've heard that sometimes these programs can conflict and create problems. Should I uninstall some and only keep one on my system at a time?

You should not have 2 anti-virus programs running, they can actually conflict with each other. I would choose 1 and stick with it. Ewido is ok since it is not an anti-virus program.

Got it. Is there anything else that you see as a problem? Everything seems to be functioning.

Your log looks clean. Follow the steps below and you should well protected.

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:

Detect and Remove Programs:
  • How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
Prevention Programs:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
  • Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
Other necessary Programs:
  • AntiVirus Program<= An AntiVirus program is a must! Whether it is a free version like AVG or Anti-Vir, or a shareware version like Norton or Kapersky, this is a must have.
  • Firewall<= A firewall is definatley a must have. Two good free versions are Sygate and ZoneLabs.
  • More Secure Browser<= Internet Explorer is not the most secure and best browser. There are safer and better alternatives available. I recommend Firefox, however Opera and SlimBrowsers are good as well.
And also see TonyKlein's good advice
So how did I get infected in the first place? and Spyware Aid's spyware article: Spyware, Adware, Malware: What it is, how it got on my computer, how to get rid of it, and how to prevent it.
