My computer is so full of junk. Mainly "Aurora - Part of the ABI Network", but I have something on it that causes everything to have like a 30 second delay before performing an action, such as simply running Internet Explorer. Once I open something, it takes 30 seconds just to come up.
Not to mention, 90% of the time, whatever SVCHOST.EXE is runs about 6 of itself all taking up lots of memory, and when i try to end any of them i get a message that says my computer will reboot in 60 seconds because i ended a system process or something.
I dont know what i have but here is my HijackThis log.

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

Hello DRT,

*Please go http://www.howtotell.com ]here[/URL] (Microsoft website) using Internet Explorer ( not Firefox or any other browser as they won't work)
*Click on "Windows Validation Assistant"
*Click on the "Validate Now" button.
*Be patient while the ActiveX loads, do not click on any links.
*Read the instructions on this page while it's loading. You will be prompted to install - click YES.
*Enter your product key then click "continue"
*When it says "Validation Complete" please click "Continue to return to your previous activity"
*Copy what it says and paste it here.

:tazz: After i hit Validate now, i wasnt prompted to install anything i just got a site that says:
Thank you for running the Windows Validation Assistant. It appears that your Windows Product Key is valid.

This is a strong indicator that your operating system is genuine, however the Windows Validation Assistant cannot make a final determination.

The benefits of genuine Windows software include greater reliability, faster access to updates, and overall richer experiences. Users of genuine Windows are also eligible to receive special offers as part of the Windows Genuine Advantage program.

To verify that you received a genuine Certificate of Authenticity and software CD, compare your anti-piracy features in the next section.

i dont know what i did wrong though.
do you know? :help: ;) :help: ;)

Hello DRT,

Don't worry about it, the information I needed to know is what you got. Let's try to install SP1a again.

Apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

Your log still doesn't show the update. What happens when you try to update to sp1a?

Since I already have sp1a, I can't get the exact link. This is the closest I could get http://www.microsoft...p1/express.mspx

Scroll down to where it says Windows XP SP1a, and click on it.

2 things Kristy,

First, i installed some kind of service package and it worked for sure. Dont have a clue what it was though.

Second, i dont know if this matters but when i first log in to my computer i use task manager to end a number of spyware-related .exe's running themselves. I dont know if they show up on my HT log but if not, i can write down some of the names of them. If i leave them running i cant access jack.

New log:

Hello DRT,

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please download Nailfix from Here
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.co.../safemode.shtml

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Then, go to Start > Run > and type in:

services.msc

Click OK.

In the services window find System Startup Service.
Rightclick and choose "Properties". On the "General" tab under "Service Status" click the "Stop" button to stop the service. Beside "Startup Type" in the dropdown menu select "Disabled". Click Apply then OK. Exit the Services utility.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

Next please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

Hello DRT,

There are still things that need to be taken care of.

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Boot into safemode.

Next please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

O2 - BHO: ohb - {9ADE0443-2AB2-4B23-A3F8-AC520773DE12} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\nsd31.dll (file missing)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {2CDE1A7D-A478-4291-BF31-E1B4C16F92EB} - (no file)
O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe (file missing)

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files/folders in bold (if found):

C:\WINDOWS\System32\nsd31.dll
C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

Empty your recycle bin, and reboot normally.

Please run a free online virus scan here (tick the "Auto Clean" checkbox):
http://housecall.antivirus.com/

And a free trojan scan here:
http://www.moosoft.com/

Reboot your PC.

Rescan with HijackThis, but this time try it without killing processes through task manager. If it is not possible, then write down the name of the processes and post them in your next reply with the HijackThis log.
