I have done the following from the "do this first instructions":
1. Run cleanUp!
2. Run Ad-aware SE
3. Run CWShredder
4. Run Spybot S&D
5. Run Trend Housecall
6. Run Panda's Activescan
7. Run HiJack This (I have sumbitted the log through the auto feedback page)

With each program I made the suggested fixes. I also installed and ran the microsoft AntiSpyware. Everytime I run it, it keeps finding some of the same viruses/trojans even though I had them deleted on the previous scan. Additionally, my Symantic Client Firewall keeps blocking "Aurora" at c:\windows\ywyhmztnb.exe from accessing the internet. I have tried deleting it manually, but it keeps coming back. My hijackthis log is below. Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

Hi again!

Let's get started.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please download Nailfix from here:
http://www.noidea.us...050515010747824

Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.co.../safemode.shtml

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

Close any open windows and/or open browsers, launch HJT, and make sure it's the only program running. Check this object for removal;

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and hit "Fix Checked".

Restart your computer in normal mode, run a new scan with HJT, post the fresh log here, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

Hi Rawe -
Thanks again for your time and assistance.

I followed your instructions. The only place I got tripped upon was on removing nail.exe. When I ran HJT it did not show up. Below is my Ewido Log and my new HJT Log. Thanks.

Hi again! Thanks for completing those steps ;) your log looks quite a bit better.

I need you to do little general scanning/cleaning for your PC before going for any deeper processes..

Please download;

- Spybot S&D

- Ad-Aware SE Personal, Build 1.06

- Clean Up

Run the CleanUp installer and get the program ready to be used, but don't run it yet.

=> An tutorial for SpyBot
=> An tutorial for Ad-aware

Run the programs, as instructed on those links.

Please run at least three of these free online scans here (Use the auto-clean option);
- Trend Micro
- BitDefender
- RAV
- Kaspersky
- Jotti Virusscan
- F-secure

We will see if any of these steps help. It likely will help something, as we got your worst infection out.

After you have done this all, close any open windows and/or open browsers, launch HJT & make sure it's the only program running. Run a scan with it and check these objects for removal if present;

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [exp.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\exp.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [cfgmgr52] RunDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\cfgmgr52.dll,DllRun
O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyPoker\PartyPoker.exe
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyPoker\PartyPoker.exe

Make sure that the above mentioned objects are all checked, then hit "Fix Checked".

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files & folder, delete if present;

C:\WINDOWS\System32\exp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\cfgmgr52.dll
C:\Program Files\PartyPoker\ <= Entire Folder

Run CleanUp! Be sure to reboot your PC when prompted.
Once your Windows has loaded, run a new scan with HJT & post the fresh log to this topic.

Ok. I ran Spybot and Ad Aware cleaning out a couple things each.

I then ran #1 (trend micro), #3 (ravanti) and #6 (f-secure) virus cleaners on your list. All 3 came up clean!

I then ran HJT and cleared out the 4 items that you directed.

I then deleted the 2nd and 3rd items that you indicated. I did not see c:\windows\system32\exp.exe.

I then ran CleanUp! and rebooted.

Below is the HJT scan.
Thanks again for all of your help!

Hi again kyearwood!

Yep this looks really good now.

Close any open windows, run a scan with HJT and check these objects for removal;

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ZTgServerSwitch] c:\program files\support.com\client\lserver\server.vbs
O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.r...ip/RdxIE601.cab

Hit "Fix Checked" when above objects are checked.
Exit HJT.

Delete this file using Windows Explorer;

c:\program files\support.com\client\lserver\server.vbs

Let's clear out your restore points now.

Disable System Restore;

1. Click Start > Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer
2. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
3. Click the System Restore tab.
4. Check the "Turn off System Restore"
5. Click Apply. An message shows up.
6. Click "Yes" to do this.
7. Confirm with "Ok".

Run CleanUp, making sure to reboot when prompted.

Enable System Restore;

1. Click Start.
2. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
3. Click the System Restore tab.
4. Uncheck the "Turn off System Restore" check box.
5. Click Apply, and then click "OK".

System Restore will now be active again. ;) (Be sure to set a new restore point.)

Your machine should be clean then! ;)

Here's some tips for future to prevent spyware;

Detect and Remove Programs:
  • How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
Prevention Programs:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
  • Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
Other necessary Programs:
  • AntiVirus Program <= An AntiVirus program is a must! Whether it is a free version like AVG or Anti-Vir, or a shareware version like Norton or Kapersky, this is a must have.
  • Firewall <= A firewall is definatley a must have. Two good free versions are Sygate and ZoneLabs.
  • More Secure Browser <= Internet Explorer is not the most secure and best browser. There are safer and better alternatives available. I recommend Firefox.
And also see TonyKlein's good advice;
So how did I get infected in the first place?

- Rawe :tazz:

If you have any further problems/you notice same symptoms on your machine as earlier, please then let me know and post a fresh HJT log. If everything is running fine after following my above instructions, you may uninstall HJT from your PC. Also if you decide to uninstall HJT, it's good to switch SpyBot S&D's TeaTimer on.

Good luck!

Rawe -
Thanks! Everything seems to be working fine. I haven't seen any problems recently. One last question - how do I ensure that a new restore point is set? On the System Restore Tab it says that it is "monitoring." Is that sufficient?
Thanks.

Glad to hear your system is back to normal! I'm happy to help. ;)

When you go to System Restore -utility, there should be an option to create an restore point. It should create restore points automatically though.

Hope this helps.

Instructions if you need one; http://www.uvsc.edu/...ystrestore.html
