One of my friends is having an issue with there PC. They aren't very knowledgeable at all except how to use the internet and, obviously, download the wrong things.

I've been trying to get rid of these annoying popups but I can't seem to locate the actual problem. I guess I should clarify "popups". IE can be completely closed and this spyware or whatever will open a new instance of IE and open some AD page.

They aren't bad ads. No [bleep] or anything like that.. just very annoying.

I downloaded and updated spy bot and adaware on his machine. I updated his Norton and rebooted his PC into safe mode. I then ran all three products deleting everything they found. Upon rebooting I noticed the computer seemed to run a bit better, but the ads will not go away.

My time there is actually limited to evenings, but if there are somewhat easy things that I can have him do, I'll forward on the information

So here is the HJT log that I am now trying to figure out what else to do with.
