What does it mean when I go to a site like cnn.com to watch a video, and it is all orange and green and blue but impossible to make anything out? Does it mean I have to change my monitor resolution just for that video? Or that I am using an old version of Media Player (for instance)?

it could mean several thing, but most likely you need to update to the newest version of media player (v10).

The CNN site says you need version 9, which I have.

could it be the player itself?
When I had 9 on my machine other players tended to show green and blue fields too. (winamp). I tossed the crummy microsoft player out and all seems to work okay. ( I don't even have to reinstall the divx codecs every time the MSMP decides to start up )

Can't you also watch in quicktime ?

When I click on the video clip, it opens Media Player. How do I get it to open Quicktime instead?

I'm not sure I want to be the guinea pig for that upgrade. I started, and it said I was subscribing to MSN Music, whatever that is. I stopped at that point.

Thanks Starjax. I finally got it to load, and I watched 2 videos on cnn.com. So I'm assuming it works. It's pretty sad when you HAVE to have the latest greatest version to get something to work on the internet!
