Hi eve1

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

ukbiker... I was sent here from last email, but found nothing new and am confused as to where to go from here. did you get my log from trend Micro housecall? I replyed to your email with it attached but I don't think it was allowed. Anyway, it's findings are that I've got these same filesa that are "untouchable" Norton can't remove them, and it seems no one else can. I see them on all the scans. TROJ-QOOLOGIC.l; the nail.exe, NailB; oneclick; knjios.exe; poller.exe; and several others.with the ABI connection.
I've been trying to handle this inbetween correspondance with you, but I need help despe :tazz: rately. As I mentioned, we're leaving on Sunday for a week and would like not to have this waiting for me when I return.... if that's possible.
Please let me know. I'm so frustrated.

Hi There Eve1

A couple of things that we have to get clear -

We do not give individual support via email, all support is done by posting in this thread, I do not answer Emails requesting assistance.

I sent you a link to this forum via PM on the site so that you could post a log after getting the preparatory steps and cleans done, one of which is to install SP1a as a minimum (see my post here of 11 July)

If you are unable to install SP1a, due to it being blocked by malware on your system, we can still help, but I need you first to do the following

*Please go here (Microsoft website) using Internet Explorer (not Firefox or any other browser as they won't work)
*Click on "Windows Validation Assistant"
*Click on the "Validate Now" button.
*Be patient while the ActiveX loads, do not click on any links.
*Read the instructions on this page while it's loading. You will be prompted to install - click YES.
*Enter your product key then click "continue"
*When it says "Validation Complete" please click "Continue to return to your previous activity"
*Copy what it says and paste it here.

Once you have done this, I can start to help you get clean, it should not take long, but I can not do so until you have either installed the service pack OR carried out the steps described above.

Hi eve1
;)
almost there :tazz: , but this is an unusual collection of malware you have here, so i am just double checking that I have got it all covered,

In the meantime, can you post an "Uninstall Log" please. Do it like this -

Open HijackThis, click Config, click Misc Tools
Click "Open Uninstall Manager"
Click "Save List" (generates uninstall_list.txt)

Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.

Also, please update your copy of Ewido, we will need it in a minute. ;)

Hi eve1 ;)

Ok, I strongly recommend that you print these instructions out so that you can refer to them as this fix is quite involved and nust be followed exactly.

Firstly, download a copy of nailfix from here .

Save it it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Next, Ensure your copy of EWido is up to date

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:

http://www.pchell.co.../safemode.shtml

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan, have it fix whatever it finds. Post the log from the scan here for me at the end
.
Repeat the ewido scan and log.

Then please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

ok here goes..results from ewido ist scan.
I need to let you know that i get a message that "windows cannot find Nail.Exe...
I've done what you said anyway and this is the results up to but not including "repeat ewido scan and log".
By the way...you don't mention if that should be done in safe mode, also. I had to get back to regular mode in order to email you this log.

Hiya Eve1 :tazz:

Hopefully this should see us done.

Please print these instructions out so that you can refer to them later

[*]Download Aboutbuster:
  • Download AboutBuster.
  • Unzip the contents of AboutBuster.zip and an AboutBuster directory will be created.
  • Navigate to the AboutBuster directory and double-click on AboutBuster.exe.
  • Click "OK" at the prompt with instructions.
  • Click "Update" and then "Check For Update" to begin the update process.
  • If any updates exist please download them by clicking "Download Update".
  • You should not run the program yet so click "Exit".
Important Please make sure that SpywareBlaster, Spyware Guard and Spybot S&D are disabled. You can re enable them after the last reboot.

Boot into Safe Mode:
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Please run about:buster by RubbeRDuckY:
  • Click Start and then OK to allow AboutBuster to scan for Alternate Data Streams.
  • Click Yes to allow it to shutdown explorer.exe.
  • It will begin to check your computer for malicious files. If it asks if you would like to do a second pass, allow it to do so.
  • When it has finished, click Save Log. Make sure you save it as I may need a copy of it later.
  • Reboot your computer into safe mode again
Run about:buster again following the same instructions as above, this time reboot into normal mode and re enable the security apps that were disabled.

rescan with HJT and post the HJT log and the AboutBuster logs for me here
