[FONT=Verdana][SIZE=1]Okay, normally I can figure most everything on my computer out by myself, but this has me stumped. I have a program (suspected trojan) that changes its name to random letters and does it when I try to delete it. I've tried shutting down the process in task manager, but again, it just changes its name. I don't know what to do about this, honestly. Not even HijackThis was able to get rid of it. My log is down below, so any help would be appreciated.

Hi blue-sunshine, good job now the hijackthis log is complete with the header section as well as the body section. However, if I am not mistaken is this all the log contains? :tazz: I am confused because on your first post the body section contains several entries and now the latest post contains only a very few entries? ;)
  • Close all windows, open HijackThis then SCAN.
  • Select all contents then post a NEW HijackThis Log.
  • Also please tell me how your system is working now. A few description perhaps. ;)

It has fewer entries because I did a system scan using HijackThis, Spybot S&D, and Microsoft Spyware Scan. The computer is still slow on start-up, and gives me a window that has the header with "Symantec Email Proxy" and nothing in the body. Following my brother's advice, I just hit 'x' instead of enter, because he says it's a virus asking for permission. Those are basically my only problems, other than the name morphing program.

If your having trouble connecting to the Internet try running the WinSockFix utility to repair your connection:

Download this from another computer then transfer it to your PC then run WinSockXPFix.

=========================================
Please SAVE THIS PAGE or secure a PRINT COPY of the instructions for reference.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite [ HERE ]
Please read Ewido Setup Instructions
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please download Nailfix from Here
Unzip it to the desktop but please DO NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
(How to boot in Safe Mode...)

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

Next please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.
