I have Sony Vaio (PCV RX 850 )with Windows XP home.
I had some spyware that wre removed by some online spyware removal company.

The problem is when I try to update windows it gives me a error.
================================
Install the latest version of the Microsoft XML Parser from the Microsoft Download Center:

In the Worldwide Downloads list, select the appropriate language for your computer and then click Go.
In the Keywords box, type Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0 Service Pack and then click Go.
In the list of available downloads, click Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0 Service Pack 4 (SP4).
Follow the instructions on your screen.
After the installation, try the Windows Update site again.
===========================
I went to http://www.microsoft...&DisplayLang=en to download the file.
I ended up downloading - msxml3usa.msi.
Then it kept giving me the same above error that i need to install the parser.
I asked a friend and he wanted me to download Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 4.0, which I did. It also not working.

I am trying to open my yahoo messenger - its not working and even after repeated reinstall its still not working. I am not sure what to do.

DO i just take a backup and reinstall the windows xp?
Do you recommend any back up software.

How do i reinstall the windows. I have the recovery CD given by sony.

After reinstalling how do i update the computer. Do i go to sony to update the files for my computer before I go to Microsoft.

Kindly help.
Thank you

Try a System restore first before doing a recovery install. It will be quicker and may fix your problem.
