Why can't I delete Internet Explorer History?

Right before I disconnect from the Internet, I generally go to Internet Options and delete History and I then click OK.

However, it is NOT deleting History from my Internet Explorer browser.
It has always worked before to clear History. If I changed a setting, I am unaware what I changed???

Others use this computer so I always delete cookies, temp. Internet files and History.

When I click on Control H, all the websites and email sites I visited are still there.

I tried this over and over and it didn't erase them.

Do you have any suggestions of why this is not working.
I can delete manually, one at a time, but I like to clear History with ONE CLICK!

It worked before I downloaded peoplepc software.
Could that have something to do with it not working?

Thanks, Janie :tazz:

Um, how do I do that?
I don't know what you mean from a 'download'.

Thanks, Janie

Once you have signed in, at the top of the page it says downloads. Click on that then you will have three options click on the third on Virus/Spyware and Security. Then all these softwares will come up look for CleanUp!Using search Follow the instructions from there.

Dear BOO.
I thank you so much for trying to help me figure out why
History is no longer clearing!

I do not have anything on my screen anywhere that says
'download'...if I am overlooking it, I sure can't find it. :tazz:

What I like to do, is click on Control H and that shows all the sites
I have visited...including several email accounts.

Then I go to Internet options and clear cookies, files and History
and when it is working correctly, all the sites disappear!
But they are staying. ;)

The clearing of the temp files IS working...because I went to disc
clean up and they were deleted.

It just seems to be HISTORY that isn't clearing.

Please keep trying to help me as I want to get this figured out.

I wrote to PeoplepPc (my new Internet provider) and they haven't
answered yet.

Thanks again
Janie ;)

Are you using this comp at work?? Or is it used at home, with many users?? it sounds like someone has taken the privilege off you to do that, like an administrator, try logging in as an administrator and deleting all your history.

hope this helps.

Either download

Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta (if it's still available to download)
or
CounterSpy 30 Day Trial

They both have a feature called "Tracks Eraser" which deletes your history, cookies, cache etc.

cleanup! should remove your temporary files...so I don't know why it isn't working.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

IF YOU SUCCESSFULLY REMOVE YOUR HISTORY...

Download Mozilla Firefox 1.0.5 from www.mozilla.org. It is easier to clear your history in Firefox and it's also a better browser on the whole...

Hope this helped.

Well Itz alright, :tazz:
Control H brings up history..right so then you would go and clear history and delete cookies! I dont now why that doesn't work but try these websites for CleanUp! and CCleaner.
For CleanUp!:http://www.stevengould.org/software/cleanup/download.html
For CCleaner:http://www.ccleaner.com/download121aa.asp
Once you go to CCleaner the download will begin automatically, but CleanUp! go down and click on Primary Download CleanUp40.exe

fflowergirl, I suggest you don't run ccleanup, I think this deletes everything off your pc, for all users, not 100% but I would hold off for now, it is a good tool if used correctly, mainly used for getting rid of temporary files, not internet files and cookies, used alot in the malware dept. I would try the admin route first, if this doesn't work, then post back.

Thanks everyone...and I sure wouldn't want to take a risk of deleting
EVERYTHING off my computer.

My computer is a HOME computer....It is used by my husband and teenagers
and their friends. :tazz:

I would like to delete MY History when I am finished on the computer.

I would rather not download anything, I just feel that a setting has been changed that is stopping the History procedure from clearing.

Woody, I do not understand HOW to log in as an administrater?

At my Library, the computers do not SHOW history when you click on that option....I would like my computer was set up that way...I guess I will ask at the library how they did that.

Sincerely, Janie
Still wanting more advice...thanks

don't worry, cleanup doesn't delete EVERYTHING from your computer, simply all the unwanted temporary or 'garbage' files. they are not needed and just take up space. it deletes your history, cookies, temp internet files and so on. you can download cleanup here.

Thanks for the download suggestion; I put it in Favorites.

I am just not READY to download anything because for the 3 years
I have had Windows XP, I have been able to clear cookies, temporary
Internet files and History.

I need to know why NOW I am having this 'gliche' or did I change
a setting that makes it not work?

Actually, this morning, all those sites were deleted.
I have it set on zero days so it must have deleted them when a new
day came.

I just want to be able to delete HISTORY in one fell swoop, like I always have,
by going to Internet Options, and clicking delete History...I ususally do it
through TOOLS, but it can also be done through Control Panel, then Internet Options.

Thanks again for any more advice you have....Janie :tazz:
P.S. If I hear back from PeoplePc, I will give you the answer they give me.
Somehow, I feel there is a connection since I just changed my Internet
Provider last week and am just noticing this problem.
