need laptop speaker help

i have a laptop and i accidentally deleted the sound driver.... well i reinstalled it and now the speakers that are built into the laptop wont play any sound...... but the headphone jack still works... i have no idea what the problem is, i installed the exact same driver that came w/ the computer... any ideas on what the problem could be? or how to fix it?

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go. If you go to start, my computer, right click properties, hardware, device manager and view "sound, video and game controllers" do you see the audio controller there? Does it have a yellow ! next to it? You will probably see "Audio Codecs" and "Audio Drivers". Any yellow ! next to those? If so, you need to re-install the drivers.

What make and model laptop? Have you checked the manufacturers web page for a driver update?

i checked the device manager and it says that every thing is ok... I have the latest driver.... im really runnong out of ideas and none of my friends can seem to tell me whats up... im gonna try to uninstall and reinstall the driver though.... if anybody has a better idea on what to do let me know....
