When I attempt to copy a pic off the internet, it comes up as BITMAP (not JPG as it should). The drop down only has two options: bitmap and art. I have tried EVERYTHING; delete cookies, history, cache. I also went to microsoft web site, where I was instructed to "try everything and if nothing works, delete java entirely." Now (of course), I can't get it reinstall. I tried sending pics via email, and when I click on send email, NOTHING happens. I am at the end of my wits. I fear that merely reinstalling :tazz: IE 6 will do nothing, as it still won't cure the problem. I work online and I MUST have this capability. PLEASE HELP!!! I am running Win XP.

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go. I would be suspicious that some malware changed IE to do this, expecially since you worked through all of the fixes posted at M$. I suggest working through the malware removal guide. See the link at the top of this forum where it says "Do you suspect a malware (Spyware, Virus, Trojan) infection? Please Start Here. " This enables folks to solve most problems on their own. If you still have trouble after that, post a hijack this log in the malware forum at

Howdy:

Just .bmp and .art files eh.. Sounds like you are using AOL.. Have you tried contacting them as to why you can't get .jpg's??
