Welcome singinmatt13 !
You are receiving "messenger spam". "Messenger spam" is sent through a Windows "service" to deliver advertising. Don't worry, many people get this problem. Here is the easiest way to end your trouble:
1. Click "Start", then go to "Run"
2. Type "services.msc", then press enter (Don't be intimitated, I know there's a lot of stuff there)
3. Go down and right-click on "Messenger"
4. Go to "Properties" (The "Messenger Properties" box will pop-up)
5. Under "Service Status", click "Stop"
6. Then under "Startup Type", choose "Disabled"
7. Press OK and the "messenger spam" will be gone !

Please feel free to edit your original post, or add as many replies as you'd like.
The only "double posting" we frown on is posting the same question more than once, or posting the same question in more than one category. It just gets too confusing.
