I recently clicked on a link a trusted friend sent me through AIM and it downloaded a virus onto my computer. It creates pop ups both in Mozilla Firefox, which is my primary internet browser, and in internet explorer. It also sends messages to my friends on AIM to click on the link I did. I used AIMfix.exe and it cleared the problem, but then my computer randomly restarted itself saying there was a problem. It has done this twice and it goes by too quickly to catch what the computer is actually saying.
