Please update to the latest version of hijack this by clicking on the "Hijack This Guide" in my signature.

Let's start with a couple of free programs:
CWShredder is the first to run. Here's why: If a CoolWebSearch variant is indeed running on your system, it may actually prevent you from running spyware scans. It is smart enough to detect efforts to detect it, and stop them. Download CWShredder to your desktop or other location. Close all browser windows, double click the CWShredder icon to run, then click the Fix -> button. When finished, reboot and run Spybot Search & Destroy.

Spybot Search & Destroy Download and install. Start Spybot S&D using the "Spybot-S&D (easy mode)" link from your Start menu . Click the Search for updates button, if any are found then click the Download Updates button. After all updates are downloaded, click the Check for problems button. When the scan is complete, place a check next to anything marked in red, then click the Fix selected problems button. You may need to run Spybot S&D multiple times to remove all infections.

CLICK HERE to download Spybot S&D

Your computer has a number of spyware programs that we need to remove. For more info on spyware see the Spyware Tools link in my signature.

Ad-aware.

Using Ad-aware: Open Ad-Aware and use the Check for updates now link. Download and accept the latest reference file. When finished click the Start button. When done scanning, the Abort button will change to Next. Click the Next button. Right-click in the Scanning Results window and click "Select all objects". Then click the "Next" button and confirm that you want to delete the selected entries.

When finished, Reboot your computer. Finally, reply to this post with a new HiJackThis log so we can look for any nasties that may have been missed. <_<

Please clear your temporary folders by going to "My Computer" right clicking your hard drive, click properties and click the "disk Management" button. Make sure all temp/temporary, recycle bin, and downloaded program files. Clean them up.

Next go to add/remove programs in your control panel and uninstall the following programs if they are there:
Flash Get
SideBar (any searchbar/toolbars besides google)

Reboot your computer.

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Thanks. Very much. Although, I hope you don't mind me asking, but is it wise to remove dslagent.exe as I believe this may have came with my BT (British Telecom) Voyager ASDL modem

Check these websites and see what you think.

http://www.2-spyware...lagent-exe.html

There is conflicting information on whether this is bad or not. I like the idea given here. Remove it to the recycle bin and see if your modem still works if it does then you can probably delete it. Maybe make a backup copy of it on disk until there's a definite answer.

Looks clean to me. If you decide to try and remove this to see if you're still ok then just remove this line and keep the file in recycle bin and delete it from the system32 folder. You can always put it back by using hijack this backup utility. It saves what you have removed in case you remove something you need.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DSLAGENTEXE] dslagent.exe USB

Congratulations! Your system is CLEAN <_<

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use) Click Here.

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend FireFox Posted Image.
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder if everything is working okay.

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats. :D

Wow. Thank you so much. I thought I new alot about prevent spyware, but you're the man. I might make a donation.

BTW, was ctfmon.exe exploited by searchwww.com? Before, ctfmon.exe would boot up internet explorer in the background, where it would try to connect to searchwww.com.

Now, ctfmon.exe runs ok, and IE no longer boots up without me knowing.
