Well, seems to have done the trick but noticed I still sem to have an infection warning on the Silent Runners log I've just run below?

Killbox doesn't seem to be able to register/delete the .exe command if there isn't a full file path (gives me the dialogue box I posted previously and only option is to click 'OK')

Or am I talking pants?!

Cheers

Hello Dougie

It is quite possible that the trojan changes its name with each boot of your PC, so I suggest that you scan again with Silent Runners, send the log and keep your PC turned on. I'll write the fix and then you can execute it manually, by finding the files and deleting them, instead of using Killbox.

Hello gain Dougie

Your HJT log remains clean.

Silent runners shows only two files to find and delete. Please use the Windows search facility ensuring it looks in hidden files also.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files, and delete them:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\dmbdh.exe
csxvy.exe

Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

Any better?

Good morning,

Unfortunately these .exe commands are not found in my windows search, even when using hidden file option.

I'm now also getting a fake windows looking dialogue box warning me of spyware with a 'click to remove' option and a 'balloon' icon on my task bar that pops up and says the same thing - I'm guessing these are part of the same spyware/trojan issue as these prompts are definitely not from my legitimate anti-spyware programs!

Any further advice you can give me?

Thanks

Hello again Dougie

How very weird. To think we can see the files but can not delete them, even in safe mode?

What happens if you click on the "remove spyware" option? Does it take you to a website? If so, what is the URL?

The activity you describe is almost certainly the work of a Trojan, but there are so many of them around, it is difficult to name it. We best do an online scan and another Ewido scan to be safe. Ewido works best in safe mode.

Go to Panda ActiveScan and run a full system scan. Make sure the autoclean box is checked! . Please post the result back in this thread.

Open Ewido and update it now before going into safe mode.

Next, please reboot your computer into SafeMode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Run Ewido:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.
  • You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
  • If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
  • DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
  • If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
  • When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen.
  • Save the report to your desktop and post in to me in your reply.
Close Ewido

Hi again,

Panda advised that it had removed 6 items - although it's not clear in the attached log so maybe I should try a manual delete of these in Safe Mode? Edwido didn't pick up anything (ran it in safe mode) so no report to show.

New Silent Runners log shown below - looks like you were right about the trojan re-naming exe commands as a new one has again been captured - although the windows alert and pop up balloon have not appeared yet since I re-booted.

Just to confirm, Windows Search is not finding any of these exe commands we've come across on Silent Runners so I'm not even getting a chance to try and delete them in Safe Mode.

I'm working on a new plan that involves a window, my PC and a loud, satisfying smashing noise... :tazz:

Hello Dougie

Looks like Panda scan was a good call. Let's clean up from that and then Silent Runners.

Can you boot into safe mode, show all files and navigate to these files and delete them please.

C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\DOUGIE\APPLICATION DATA\wo.tmp
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALL USERS\FAVORITES\AdultGambling.url
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\CONFLICT.1\MirarSetup.exe
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\CONFLICT.2\MirarSetup.exe
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\MirarSetup.exe

Here are the Silent Runners files for deletion, perhaps try Killbox using firstly "Standard File Kill" because rebooting will change the file names, if that doesn't do it, let's try "Replace on Reboot" and be sure to tick the USE DUMMY box.

They are:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\hclean32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\dmonn.exe
cswaz.exe

Have you ever edited a registry before Dougie?

Ouch! Had a big problem there. Killbox couldn't access 'hclean' and 'dmonn' and when I used Replace On Re-Boot (Use Dummy) my system loaded with 2 C: prompts open and Internet Explorer crashed everytime I acessed it.

So, I used System Restore and repeated everything from today up until that point - I've attached a new Panda Scan Report and latest Hijack This/Silent Runners logs are below - nothing in Ewido scan to report on.

I couldn't delete any of the Mirar.exe commands in Safe Mode - they don't show up at all.

I have edited a register before so if you can tell me what to remove/edit I'll have a go!

Thanks
Dougie

Hello again Dougie

Copy everything in the quote box below (starting with REGEDIT4) and paste it into Notepad. Go up to "File > Save As", then click the drop-down box to change the "Save As Type" to "All Files". Save it as fixware.reg on your desktop.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"System"=-
"System"=""

Double-click fixware.reg and when asked if you want to merge with the registry click YES.

After the merged successfully prompt, please reboot your computer.

After reboot, please download RKFiles from HERE
  • Unzip RKfiles.zip to the desktop
  • Double-click RKFiles.bat to run it.
    • It may take a while.
  • When it is finished a window should appear with a log.
  • Please copy the contents of the log and paste them here
    • Note: the log with be saved at c:\log.txt

Hello again Dougie

Please open/run The Killbox..

Select "Delete on Reboot".

Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them then press CTRL + C

C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntfsnlpa.exe: UPX!
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rdsndin.exe: UPX!
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dfrg.msc: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQAAAAAwGpEc213

Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

I have no idea what on earth that last long name is.

After reboot, post a new HiJackThis log here.

Evening...

Hijack this log shown below - seems to be OK now but I've been here before and the re-direct has kicked back in so don't want to get my hopes up! My firewall (Mcafee) has started prompting me about 'dxdmain.exe' trying to access the internet - whatever I do (ie block it or allow it) McAfee then turns itself off! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....

Hello again Dougie

Make sure you are disconnected from the internet and that all programmes and windows are closed. Run HiJackThis. Place a checkmark next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [hclean32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\hclean32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dmxsf.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\dmxsf.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [OpenGL] OpenGL.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [OpenGL] OpenGL.exe
O23 - Service: DirectX Graphics (dxdmain) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\dxdmain.exe

Close HiJackThis.

Now lets check some settings on your system.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel and double-click on Network Connections
  • Then right click on your Default Connection
    • Usually Local Area Connection for Cable and DSL
  • Left click on Properties.
  • Click the Networking tab.
  • Double-Click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item.
  • Select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS Servers Automatically.
  • Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks.
Make sure to reboot and post back a new HiJackThis log into this topic.

Evening...

Seems to be fine - no re-directs so far and no 'you have spyware' pop ups - however, dxd.exe seems to be still there although I keep deleting it!? Log shown below.
