I need help, my cd rom and dvd/cd writer wont work, i tried the cd gone patch, but it just wont work.

Have you verified all cable connections? Does the device power up? Do you see it in device manager? Go to start, my computer right click properties, hardware, device manager. Do you see it listed there and does it have a yellow ! next to it?
