Hi my Norton Anti Virus keeps opening a window to inform me the a Net Bus Trojan is attempting to access my computer, i went through your hijack guide recommended for trojans, im not particularly computer literate so i'd be grateful for any advice, thankyou.

Hi John and welcome to GTG.

I want you to upload this file (C:\WINDOWS\PL15CO98.EXE) to http://virusscan.jotti.org and report back what it found.

Run an online virus scan at TrendMicro http://uk.trendmicro...call_launch.php. Just follow the instructions on the site to run the free online scan. If any viruses/trojans are detected, try to delete or clean them in that site. If any are not cleanable, copy and paste the infected files here. You may also use Panda ActiveScan at http://www.pandasoft...ucts/activescan. Post the log from the Panda scan here.

Hi there again,

I ran the scan of the file you suggested and the scans ran found nothing, then i ran the Trend Micro Housecall virus scanner and that search came up negative too, so i guess the system is clean. Thanks very much for your help much appreciated.

Hi John, is that trojan still attempting to access the c: drive? If so, we need to remove it somehow since TrendMicro can't find it either.

Try the Panda scan also and give me the log here.

If that doesn't find anything also, do this:

Download Ewido Security Suite at http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ and install it. Update to the newest definitions. If you have trouble updating, you may do it manually at http://www.ewido.net...wnload/updates/ Do NOT run the Ewido scan yet.

Boot into Safe Mode by restarting and then hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.

Next run a full scan in Ewido. Save the log from the Ewido scan so that you can post it later.

Restart and post the Ewido log.

Hi there,

I ran the Panda scan and nothing came up then i tried download and install the ewido security suite, but im running Win 98 and it needs Win 2000 minimum, so i can't install it...

Oh sorry forgot to tell you the trojan hasn't appeared for the past 24 hrs, not sure what that means...
