coverting idx files back to mp3 files

I reformated my pc to xp professional and I had saved my files to the network when i copied them back to my pc the file extension of my mp3 files had changed to idx. How do I convert them back to mp3?

I would be very, very surprised if that has happened.....I think you copied the wrong files to the network...some sort of indexing catalog program probably created new files for search purposed...IDX is a common extension programmers use for indexing.

There is nothing in the windows copy function that would rename the file....how large are the IDX files?
