Howdy and welcome to G2G:
You said you just had your system upgraded.. What all was done and did Windows have to be re-loaded??
The "clicking" sound is NOT good.. Could mean the drive has gone to the big repair depot in the sky!!

the second hard drive was put in. the ram upgraded to 256 (i think). it was a fairly decent upgrade anyways. not sure was it reloaded. i just dont want to have to bring it back to shop, they were very hard to deal with. when i go into my computer it just asks me do i want to format my f drive when i click on it. its only music in it, but took me ages to collect it all!

Alright.. So they installed your new f: drive and you were able to see it.. Transferred a bunch of stuff to it and then, all of a sudden, you can't get into it anymore.. So far so good??
What operating system??

Go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management..
Now, click on the Disk Management icon on the left side of that screen and tell me if all hdd's (especially f:) is being recognized still and what it says for your f: drive..

when i double click on a song it just goes green and ! faults. it first started with very slow pc load up when turned on. then i went into my computer and f hdd icon was gone completely. then i restarted and a warning on windows load up screen said something like f drive is inconsistant, and deleting orphan file. and now when i left click on f drive in my comp it just says" f drive is not formatted and format now?"

Find out.. If they used a disk overlay program, that may be your problem..
Also, in Disk management, it should tell you what the format is..
