upgraded to xp t-bird no longer working

I have just upgraded my desktop to Windows XP and now Thunderbird is no longer working. When I click to open it it appears to open but only a few text words written in the box and nothing else. I have tried reinstalling but to no avail. Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.
