Mosaic1 has created a bat file that should help us, download it from here.
http://www.geekstogo...=download&id=34

A few setup items first we need to do, make sure you can view all hidden files and folders, use this link for help.
http://www.xtra.co.n...1916458,00.html

Next, review this article How to take ownership of a file or folder in Windows XP

Sign Off the Internet and Stay Off Until All Steps Are Finished

Extract the batch file (hiving.bat) and run it. If you have script blocking enabled you will get a warning. Please allow this to run. The script is just producing a message box. Double click on the batch to run it. After a reboot the super hidden nasty file will no longer be loaded and will be visible.

Restart into Safe mode and find this file:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\iafosoft.dll.dll

Right click on the file and choose properties.
Use the security tab on .dll and take ownership.
Change the 'everyone special' to
'you> with Admin rights-> FULL control
Then try to delete it

If you have successfully deleted the file restart into Regular Windows mode.

Run CWShredder immediately. Press the 'Fix' button to clean.

Run Ad-aware
Restart.

Resca with HJT and post log back

When I open the hiving.bat and run it, I got this message.

(No App in it-Dlls value Present Removal Aborted. [OK] )

I downloaded this first in a folder on desktop, then in a folder on C-drive. I got the same message both times. Am I doing something wrong? :tazz:

From your log, I see nothing in the ways of trojans, nor any evil entities attempting to possess your computer, except for Windows but it's too late for that one. :tazz:

Congratulations your log now appears to be clean. ;)

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:

Detect and Remove Programs:
  • How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
Prevention Programs:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
  • Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
Other necessary Programs:
  • AntiVirus Program<= An AntiVirus program is a must! Whether it is a free version like AVG or Anti-Vir, or a shareware version like Norton or Kapersky, this is a must have.
  • Firewall<= A firewall is definatley a must have. Two good free versions are Sygate and ZoneLabs.
  • More Secure Browser<= Internet Explorer is not the most secure and best browser. There are safer and better alternatives available. I recommend Firefox, however Opera and SlimBrowsers are good as well.
And also see TonyKlein's good advice
So how did I get infected in the first place? and AntiSpyware Net's spyware article: Spyware, Adware, Malware: What it is, how it got on my computer, how to get rid of it, and how to prevent it.

Thank you so much for taking time to help me! :tazz:

I just have a few questions. Do I need to go back and hide files and folders??? Also which of the following programs that I have dowloaded in the past few days do I need to keep?

CWS. Shredder
ewido
Nail Fix
Kill Box. exe
Trojan Hunter
Silent Runners
Hiving.bat
Easy Zip

I know I will be keeping these.

Spybot.Search & Destroy
Ad-Aware SE
Clean Up
AVG
Hijack This exe.

Do I need more than one Virus Program? Also do I need to download all of the spyware prevention programs that you recommended, or do I just need one? Im sorry for all of the questions. I just want to be safe. I know you understand. ;) Thanks Again!

Ok Answers to your questions

You can remove/delete the following

CWS. Shredder
Nail Fix
Kill Box. exe
Trojan Hunter
Silent Runners
Hiving.bat
Easy Zip

I would recommend keeping Ewido, even when the trial runs out, it can still be updated and used to scan your pc.

You must only run 1 Antivirus program, as running 2 can cause conflict as they try to compete with each other. You have AVG so i would leave it at that.
You must also only run 1 firewall for the same reasons

The spyware programs in my recommendations are there to ensure that your pc remains as safe as it possibly can, but downloading and installing is an option.

I hope that answers your questions
