Guild Wars?

World of Warcraft?

City of Heroes?

R.Y.L.: Path of the Emperor?

Any comments on any of these games?

Ive played EQ, SWG, WoW and now im playing CoH.

I just stopped playing WoW, and got CoH. Both are great games, I just needed a little change.

EQ is good but slowing becoming outdated I think.

SWG is good, but laggy in some areas, also was fps flying

WoW is a great game, has some issues getting updates though. BLizzard is slowing in putting them out.

CoH is a good game from what I can tell. Good graphics, fun to paly, everyone looks different. Population is nice and newbie friendly.

hmmm, you forgot to mention uo, the original mmo. besides the fact that it is more out of date than eq, there is just so much more you can do in uo.

Being rather poor right now i've been playingKnight Online and Anarchy Online . Both offer free accounts and no fee download of the game itself and can be pretty fun, especially if used just to break off the monotany of your paid game.

Knight Online is more developed for large scale PVP battles but unfortunately unless you have obtained level 60 + (70 being the max) your not likely to fair very well. The major downside to me for this game is there are no European servers so the community is extremely multi-lingual, and in game communications can be very difficult if you dont speak turkish (they seem to be the majority). Also there is very limited character classes, Rouge Archer/Assassin/Warrior/Mage/Priest and little room for character customisation. There is also the small problem of the shortage of hunting grounds when can at certain times of the day pose a real pain in the rear, however despite all these setbacks it was a pretty fun game to play completely free.

Anarchy Online is a great break from the traditional Fantasy line of mmorpgs and offers a sci-fi based world. There is never an issue with finding a place to go and slaughter monsters, lots of different skills/classes/jobs to chose from, and has a really great in game society including highly active GMs who are often visible at any in game events. I pick this one mainly for the great street parties that can often be found where large groups of players can be found partying it up in the streets while all streaming music from the live DJ dancing it up beside you and taking requests. If your looking for an mmorpg with a nice laid back friendly environment give this game a check. It also offers additional areas and items to paid accounts (expansion packs only available to subscribers), but there is still plenty to do on a free account.

I know this isn't quite in line with the topic as the "best" mmorpgs out there, but if your like me and don't have the spair cash to go buy the newest games out, or just need a break from your everyday game and want some no cost fun, both these games are a great solution.

Game on!

Final Fantasy XI or Guild Wars are in my opinion, the best MMO's out there.

Looking for something a bit more feeling like the movies, I'd recommend POTCO (Pirates of the Caribbean Online)
Want something now? Wolfteam is my recommendation, and I've been playing it for a couple of months now. Published by Aeria Games, it's a bit addicting.
Everyone is hating on Runescape now, but it used to be pretty popular. Personally, I don't like RS.
Although that, ROM (Runes of Magic) is pretty hot with clean graphics, although the download size is pretty big. 4 GB? Literally? For the original client it's 7 GB! I wasted my space on that, but it was totally worth it.
Deadsix? Pretty fun. I would play it, but it's not always the game you want or are in the mood for.
I remember back in the days I used to play Spineworld, but it sucks now. Those old days were great with all our suckish 2D games that we thought the next generation of gaming were! It used to be pretty great, now I hate it. You might still like it.
Dofus, another game from ------long...----- the problem is they based it all on the subscription! Not much to do without the 'paid' concept!

If you get tired of the ancient worldish fantasy magic MMOs consider trying EVE Online, it's got a steep learning curve but it is rather amazing.
