Hi, my computer specs are as follows.

CPU : 2.66ghz Pentium 4
Mainboard : P4P800-E Deluxe Asus Motherboard
Ram : Samsung DDR3200 266Mhz Ram.
PSU : 3R Systems 450W PSU.
Videocard : XFX Geforce 6600 GT

My computer keeps freezing up, nothing responds, no mouse respond nothing,
My mouse laser goes out, the lights on my keyboard go out.
The only way to reset it is if I hold down the ON button so it turns off,
and then when I turn it back on I get this error from my speakers "System Failed CPU Test", the only way to get rid of that is if I reset my CPU, [take it off and put it back on so it detected a 'new' CPU]
Then my computer turns back on.. working, and usually it will freeze again,
no timed freeze time, its just random, sometimes before it boots up, sometimes while im watching a movie sometimes after a few hours. The only thing I can notice is that if I don't plug in my speakers / PS2 Mouse, and use my USB mouse, it usually doesn't freeze for a bit longer, whereas if i plug in my speakers/mouse it freezes alot more often.
Its driving me mad, and everytime I have to resit my heatsink over and over to get it to boot up again.

I tested my RAM with memtest86
My CPU temps are normal at about 30 degrees.
But I don't know whats wrong, its not new or anything, have had for 6-7 months.
I'm thinking that maybe its a conflict between hardware,
but I don't understand the "SYSTEM FAIL CPU TEST" msg I get.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have the latest BIOS P4P800-E v1007 installed?

Use Everest to see what you have. Look under Motherboard, Bios. If you do not have it update it.

Are you sure the CPU is a P4 2.66GHz? Look under Computer, Overclock. CPU Clock and CPU FSB should be almost identical to the original.

If all of this looks ok you can try reseting the BIOS and if that does not work, reflashing it. If that does not work the problem is either a defective board or CPU.

30 degrees in very very low what kind of cooling are you using and did you remember to reapply thermal material when you removed the hsf. Try sis sandra software it can detect alot of problems as well as your system specs and performance.

well, i clicked Control Panel -> System ->
and it says I have a pentium 4. 2.66ghz computer.
also, i don't know 30 degrees is just my idle temperature,
45 or so when i play games, i dont overclock,
my cooling is....
just fans. a big fan at the back, 1 at the front, 1 on the side of case, 1 on top of heatsink.
:-| i even used MBM and it says 30 ish.
and.. i,ll post a reply a bit later about the bios thing,
but its weird, this problems started happening only a week ago, and ive been using for 6 months or so.

would it be possible my PSU = crap? not sending enough 'voltage' or whatever to my parts causing it to freeze.
cuz its not a well known brand etc,
no idea.

Did you do anything I asked? Windows XP is going to report whatever the speed the CPU is currently running at, overclocked or not, it doesn't confirm anything. Please reread my post.

It can mean anything, numerous things can cause your system to lockup. Does it only Lockup in Games? If so check the Video Card and CPU fans and make sure they are working.

But, not while im watching movies / surfing net etc.
I have been on watching movies , listening to music for a few hours.
Whereas if i turn on Warcraft, im almost guaranteed to lockup/freeze in the first 10 or so minutes.
