I am having trouble, installing several games onto my PC. As soon as I enter the CD key and click next the program shuts down. The games are Call of Duty and ROT Wolfenstein. I have an really huge assumption that it could be my registry but am trying all angles right now. Here is my HJT log. If you can please point me in the right direction.
thanks in advance,
Funkmaster

Jonny,

Alright, did everything you asked. The new log is posted below. I'm not in Hawaii now. Used to live out in Ewa Beach until about mid-2002. Spent almost 4 years wishing I lived up on your side of the island. Thanks for all your help.

Nice, well then you can get rid of the Hawaii.rr.com references right? Use hijack this to remove these entries:
O9 - Extra button: Messenger - {4528BBE0-4E08-11D5-AD55-00010333D0AD} - C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\yhexbmes0819.dll (file missing)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Yahoo! Messenger - {4528BBE0-4E08-11D5-AD55-00010333D0AD} - C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\yhexbmes0819.dll (file missing)

Reboot. That's it you look clean. Is your installation problem fixed? If not try putting the Windows XP installation disk in the drive and click Start, run, and type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes. Make sure there is 1 space between sfc and /scannow. This will repair all system files. (System File Checker)
Let me know how it goes.

Noticed you already removed the hawaii.rr.com lines.
Congratulations! Your system is CLEAN <_<

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use) Click Here.

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend FireFox Posted Image.
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder if everything is working okay.

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats. :D

Johnny,

Alright did everything you stated, including running the XP instal CD. As for you last post, I already have SpywareBlaster installed, and use Spybot S&D as well.

As for my installation problem, still having it. Here's the background. I have successfully had Call of Duty (Activision) installed and uninstalled on this machine 4-5 times over the last 18 months. As of about 3 weeks ago (when the expansion pack came out) I tried to reinstall it again and the installation wizard would just drop out in my one screen after I put in my product key. I'm also having the same problem with Return to Castlewolfenstein (ID). I don't get any error msgs, it just quits. This has also happened to some other programs, but not everyone. I don't know what the problem is, but I really would like it fixed. Any help on this one would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm, that's a tricky one for me, I have problems with games sometimes too. For example I have had UT2k3 installed and uninstalled a few times and when I went to install it again the other day it installed fine and when I put the play disk in to play the game it said I need to insert the play disk and wont run. Hopefully someone here has some news on this I will ask around.
