I'm looking for guidance on what to fix on the following log...particularly the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\XHOFZO.EXE line, which I have had no luck in finding anything about when I google it.

Hi peterpeach, welcome to GeeksToGo

You couldn't find and information on that file because it has a random name. We will need some tools to clean up your computer.

Download, install, update, and configure Ad-aware SE:
  • Download and Install Ad-Aware SE, keeping the default options. However, some of the settings will need to be changed before your first scan.
  • Close ALL windows except Ad-Aware SE.
  • Click on the‘world’ icon at the top right of the Ad-Aware SE window and let AdAware SE update the reference list for the adware and malware.
  • Once the update is finished click on the ‘Gear’ icon (second from the left at the top of the window) to access the preferences/settings window:
    • In the ‘General’ window make sure the following are selected in green:
      • Under Safety:
        • Automatically save log-file
        • Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal
        • Safe Mode (always request confirmation)
      • Under Definitions:
        • Prompt to update outdated definitions - set the number of days
    • Click on the ‘Scanning’ button on the left and select in green :
      • Under Driver, Folders & Files:
        • Scan Within Archives
      • Under Select drives & folders to scan:
        • choose all hard drives
      • Under Memory & Registry: all green
        • Scan Active Processes
        • Scan Registry
        • Deep Scan Registry
        • Scan my IE favorites for banned URL’s
        • Scan my Hosts file
    • Click on the ‘Advanced’ button on the left and select in green:
      • Under Shell Integration:
        • Move deleted files to recycle bin
      • Under Logfile Detail Level: (all green)
        • include addtional object information
        • DESELECT - include negligible objects information
        • include environment information
      • Under Alternate Data Streams:
        • Don't log streams smaller than 0 bytes
        • Don't log ADS with the following names: CA_INOCULATEIT
    • Click the ‘Tweak’ button and select in green:
      • Under ‘Scanning Engine’:
        • Unload recognized processes during scanning
        • Scan registry for all users instead of current user only
      • Under ‘Cleaning Engine’:
        • Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot
      • Under Log Files:
        • Include basic Ad-aware SE settings in logfile
        • Include additional Ad-aware SE settings in logfile
        • Please do not check: Include Module list in logfile
  • Click on ‘Proceed’ to save the settings.
Exit Adaware and download the VX2 Cleaner Add-on for Adaware from here:

http://www.lavasoft.de/software/addons/vx2cleaner.shtml

Instructions for how to use the VX2 Cleaner are on that page. Please follow them completely. You will need to reboot twice. Let Adaware quarantine whatever it finds. When finished, empty the quarantine folder.

Please download CWShredder from here to your desktop.

http://cwshredder.net/bin/CWShredder.exe

Update CWShredder. Then close every window and disconnect from Internet, double click the CWSshredder icon on your Desktop.
Click Fix, ok and then Next, let it fix everything it asks about.

Run HijackThis
Click on scan and put a check on the following lines, if they are still there.

Go to Control Panel Add/Remove programs and uninstall these if found(they may be already gone)

Huntbar
404Search

Open HiJackThis. It should open to a "New users quickstart" menu
Click "Open the Misc Tools section"
Click "Delete a file on reboot..."
In the "Enter file to delete on reboot..." window, navigate to:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM

And select the file

XHOFZO.EXE

Then click Open. After you click Open, HiJackThis will ask you if you want to restart your computer now. You do, so click Yes.

Go here and make an online virus scan and save the results as a text file. Make sure you check Autoclean.

Post those results and a new Hijackthis log and let us know how your computer is running now.
