First time posting anything; I have been running Norton system works antivirus and firewall 2005, Webroot Spysweeper, Microsoft antispyware and Spybot search & destroy. I keep all updated including Windows updates... "Last week while on the computer I got three dialog boxes pop-up on top of each other. 1st was something like Sytem32 error or Svchost error? all happend to fast. 2nd was antivirus files are corrupted please uninstall and reinstall Nortons anti virus. The 3rd was Program not responding. I clicked on it to close and everything shut down before I could determine what the first box actually said. Follow up was to see if I could determine if my Anti virus program was okay. Re-booted and went to Norton system works all seemed ok, did a live update and received new difinitions. Later after another re-start I found my firewall disabled and set to start up manually instead of at start up. I then ran scans from all my own programs listed above plus on-line scan from symantec's website both virus and security... I found your page (malware-start here) followed most everything there with the exception of downloading ewido and additional antivirus tools... I installed Ad-Aware SE and cleanup plus the on-line Trend House call scan... I had not downloaded the hijackthis because I was not able to determine if current and where to get it from. All your links on the start-here page said I did not have permission, so I went to the home pages. Where can I find the Hijackthis?

OK, I don't think it's malware related here.

I remember seeing another user with this problem before and I think it's the Security Center in XP. I forgot how the user solved it at the end, but he was also having a firewall problem.

Please ask this question in the Windows XP Forum. They should be able to help you out there.
