Ok thats the whole log after *just* running ad aware. I've been plagued by spyware for ages but the Aurora is the most obnoxious thing I've ever had. Can anyone help me rid my comp of this stuff?

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP, or Service Pack 4 if you are running Win2k. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Click here
Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

Your log still shows that you are running only Windows XP without any SP

*Please go http://www.howtotell.com ]here[/URL] (Microsoft website) using Internet Explorer ( not Firefox or any other browser as they won't work)
*Click on "Windows Validation Assistant"
*Click on the "Validate Now" button.
*Be patient while the ActiveX loads, do not click on any links.
*Read the instructions on this page while it's loading. You will be prompted to install - click YES.
*Enter your product key then click "continue"
*When it says "Validation Complete" please click "Continue to return to your previous activity"
*Copy what it says and paste it here

I can't get active x to work.. it keeps erroring saying my internet options won't allow it. I went into the settings like it said and enabled it but it still gives me the same error and I get like 5 pop ups immediately after closing the error window.

I'm not sure how to get it to validated again. I had validated it in the past before having to do a reinstall. Unfortunatly the reinstall (a couple months ago) didn't even get rid of all the spyware. But certain things won't work anymore.. like system restore. I'm really confused how to get it to work properly.

Try this:

1. Please go to Start -> Run -> type cmd and press Enter.

2. At the command prompt type sfc /scannow, making sure to put a space between the "c" and the slash, and then press Enter. This will run the System File Checker.

3. Follow the prompts, and insert your Windows installation CD if requested.

4. Then please REBOOT your computer.

I just moved last month and cannot find my windows cd. I've spent the last few days digging through my boxes etc trying to find it but havn't had any luck. Is there any way to remove this stuff without having to find my windows cd?
