After someone saw this I was told that I have two AVs and this was causing a number of problems and I would have to remove one?!?!?

I assume that AV means Anti-Virus. I thought I was only using one Avast! What other AVs am I using so that I can remove on of them :tazz:

Also can't seem to get on the internet -it can't seem to connect to the server - some problems with MALWARE before - could MALWARE stop the my computer connectiong to the internet or is this a problem with my modem or something

Hi hilda, welcome to GTG. Since you think malware might be behind this, please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE .
That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a newhijackthis log in THAT forum.
If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.

Hi,
Think I have sorted out all my Malware problems - it is now just this AV thing - do I have two of them?
What are they?

You still have malware.

Please run a free on-line scan of Panda. You need to use IE to download it. When it is completed, post the results in this thread. I am moving this to the malware section.

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {00000000-0000-4188-835A-C6A007FA77AD} - C:\Program Files\fwt9q0vu\fwt9q0vu.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [fwt9q0vu] C:\Program Files\fwt9q0vu\fwt9q0vu.exe

O9 - Extra button: Related - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Show &Related Links - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

C:\Program Files\fwt9q0vu<<this folder

Please delete your temporary files. Double Click My Computer (WinXP: Navigate to Start --->My Computer)
You will see an icon representing your harddrive (most likely C: Drive) Right Click on the hard drive icon and click Properties at the
bottom of the fly out window. One the very first tab (General) you will see a button labeled "Disk Cleanup"...click that button.
Make sure the following are checked:
Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files and
Recycle Bin

Click OK and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.

Reboot and run a new log. :tazz:
