I am looking into buying an external hd for my laptop to keep all of my music/pics/vids on. My friend has recommened a Maxtor because thats what he has and he loves it.

I want to keep the price under 150 if possible and just wondering if anyone had any good ideas or recommendations.

You will see a better performence from a FireWire Drive then a USB 2.0 Drive. I would get the Maxtor 160GB USB 2.0/FireWire. It is $172, I my mind, it is worth the extra $22. That is if you have a FireWire port in your computer. I have the 250GB Drive w/FireWire and I love it. Hope that is helps.
