Hi everyone,

Yep 54. My computer is fair decent and serves me well for what i need but it is rediculously slow at startup! It's kinda doing my head in now and anyhelp on how to clear some of these up would be much appriciated! One of the staff here told me he only has 19! And i'm sure they use their PC more than i do!

Cheers,

Andy

Click start then run, type msconfig then press enter then start up.

Remove the ticks from non essential programmes, but make sure to leave the firewall and anti virus running. You can stop more or less anything, the programme will just run when you start it instead of when you start XP.

Make a note of evrything you remove the tick from, then you can return the tick if it goes wrong.

Whenever you make changes to this you will need to reboot, when it gets back to the desktop, click, do not start the configuration utilty.
