Hi Nikki

You do have a couple of problems. So let's see what we can do.

Could you please let us know if you ran Spyware Begone before you posted the second Hijack This log. I would like to be sure that the changes in the log were done by Spyware Begone. Please ask if you have any questions at any stage.

You have been hijacked by IBIS websearch but:

You have a trojan that needs attention first. Please download the removal tool from here. Trojan Removal Tool

Read the the instructions for using the tool on the page carefully and follow them. You will need to do a virus scan at the end of the cleanup so don't worry about that section just yet.

After the removal tool has completed the removal and you have rebooted and rescanned as required. Open Control Panel and go to Add/Remove Programs:

Find 'Web Search Toolbar' and 'Win-Tools Easy Installer (By Web Search)' in the list of programs and click the remove button. Follow instructions to ensure you are removing the program. The instructions can be confusing and you end up with it back again.

Reboot the computer again.

Put HijackThis into its own folder, under My Documents is Ok. At the moment it is running out of a temporary folder that we need to clean out later. You might like to print these instructions out as you will need to disconnect from the internet and close all browser windows, including this one to finish off the job.

Disconnect from the internet and Close all open window. Run HijackThis again (from its own folder) and click on Scan. Check the following items for removal. Some entries may be missing. Click on Fix Checked.

Reboot into safe mode by following the instructions here: How to boot into Safe Mode

Open Windows Explorer and make sure you have the correct settings for showing hidden files and folder:

Go to Explorer>Tools>Folder Options>View, select:

>Show hidden files and folders
>Display the contents of system folders

Uncheck:

>Hide protected operating system files

Next go to Search > All files and folders > More advanced options and click.

Be sure the first three boxes are selected:

>Search System folders
>Search Hidden Files and folders
>Search SubFolders

When you have the settings in place remove the following files:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\ [Wintools] Delete entire folder
C:\Program Files\ [Toolbar\TBPS.exe] Delete entire folder
C:\WINNT\Speech\ [ftpweb.exe rerun] Delete this file

C:\Documents and Settings\ssmith\LOCAL Settings\Temp\ [bewptf.dat Delete all files] in this folder and clean out your Temporary Internet folder as well while you are there.

Reboot into normal mode. Update your antivirus program and run a full scan.

Then do a fresh HijackThis log and post it so we can be sure it's now clean.
