I went out and got Battlefield 2 yesturday, and it looks like its that time of year again: Upgrading the video card. Right now I've got a member of the GeForce 4 series. I would appreciate any suggestions for a new card. Here's a little help to refine the list.

It needs to be AGP, 8x/4x (I'd be running it 4x on my computer but i understand most can go both ways right now) and preferably not over 200 $. Thanks a lot for your time and help!

Those are a bit more then I'd like to spend on a new card. In about a year or so I'll be getting a whole new system and then I'll fork over the 400 or so neccessary for a high-end card. Right now though i just want to be able to play some of the games coming out for the next year without having a hole in my wallet.

Check out the video card prices shown here. If you navigate to around page 5, you should see the cards in the sub-200 category, and these include a variety of 6600GT models as well as some Radeon models. It looks like on that page that the best deal is the XFX Geforce 6800 (slightly better than a 6600 GT, depending on the game).

If you want to see a performance comparison for the video cards you are considering, I suggest you check out this review. You should keep in mind that the test computer they use in the review may be significantly different than yours, so you can't necessarily expect the same frame rates if you buy a particular video card. But hopefully, the charts will at least show you where your potential new card stacks up against the competition.
