I need to print out a 200+ page document 35 times.

In Word, you have the option to print out your copies in a sorted way so you won't print 35 copies of page 1 first and then 35 copies of page two etc...

Instead, whilst using the sorted option, you print out your full document first, and then your fulle document gets printed again.
This way, you won't have to manually sort it...

It doesn't work for me though... Even though I select sorted, it keeps on printing 35 times page 1, 35 times page 2 etc...

Can anyone adise me on what to do?

For now I manually print out 1 copy 35 times.
But this is hourly for me...

I can't keep on going like this for a full day every day...

btw, using winXP, HP LaserJet 2430

Cheers

Hi Ruben

What version of Windows and Office are you using? Have you installed the current Office SP?
Have a look here for a possible solution from microsoft.

I'm using Windows XP professional SP2 and Office 2003.

I read the Microsoft article you referred to, however it sais that the issue discribed is due to different paper sizes and the hotfix should only be applied when dealing with the exact same issue.

I would rather not have this hotfix cause major problems if I would apply it so my next question would be: Can you advise me whether I should apply this hotfix or not?

I'm not using different paper sizes.

Thanks a lot for your previous reply. I hope you can advise me a bit more.

Cheers

I can only be online for a few minutes now, but leave it with me and i'll check into further. Probably won't be back for another 14-16 hrs.

I had a look at the on-line user manual on the HP website and couldn't find anything really usefull. I couldn't find any info on the "sorted option". Does the printer print ok otherwise? If so, do you select your print options from MS Word's File|Print menu or from the printer directly? Is the Collate option selected from MS Word's File|Print menu dialog box? I know that I may be asking the obvious, but I haven't had use with that particular printer.

Please post back with your comments.

Hi Octagonal,

thx again for your reply.

The printer does print ok otherwise.
The main things like printing from which tray is all set in the printer properties itself.

However, the sorting option is selected from within the MS Word File|Print dialog box as this is something you cannot choose when browsing through the printer properties itself.
I guess that's why you won't find anything on the HP website as this (my lucky guess) would really be a MS Office feat.

I saw a thread here about MS office getting hanged up when saving to a floppy.
Some issue with a rollout of Microsoft...
Might this be related to something like that as well?

Oh and I just thought of something...
Might this be due to spooling perhaps? Perhaps the settings for spooling are not correct...

Possibly could be a MS thing. The link that I gave you regarding the hotfix from MS may work, I really can't advise you whether to apply it or not. I can imagine the frustration that you are having with the printing. Have you tried sending HP an email?

lol, I even called HP techsupport but they kind of told me nicely that this wans't their responsibility...

Search google they said...

Strange though, they always helped me great before...

I'll try appying that hotfix but I will do it on a test environment though.
Need some time to do so...
