So, I've been trying to fix my friend's computer. I've run ewido, spybot s&d, and adaware on it a fair number of times. There was also a really annoying nail.exe infection that I got rid of. However, problems still abound. Here's a HJT log:

Hello,

It's better to print out the next instructions or save it in notepad, because you also have to work in safe mode without networking support, so this page wouldn't be available then.
It is also important you don't miss a step and perform everything in the right order!!

Seems like most is already cleaned up, however, there are still some present that needs a special treatment, especially Look2me, but we'll deal with it afterwards.

* Download and install CCleaner
Do not use it yet.

* Download LQfix.zip
Unzip it and save it to your desktop, don't use it yet!!

* Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

* Update Ewido! Don't run it yet.

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [JQXEENC] C:\WINDOWS\JQXEENC.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\System32\rurhap.exe reg_run
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [exp] C:\WINDOWS\System32\exp
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [exp.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\exp.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AutoUpdater] "C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate\AutoUpdate.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AutoLoadervFoc1PMXcPaM] "C:\WINDOWS\System32\dsdhlp32.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [vs7W35R] dsdhlp32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BullsEye Network] C:\Program Files\BullsEye Network\bin\bargains.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [mnjtwv] c:\windows\system32\xrbnhh.exe r
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [System service62] C:\WINDOWS\etb\pokapoka62.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [CAS Client] "C:\Program Files\Cas\Client\casclient.exe"
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [eBo6RRd3j] wdiffic.exe
O18 - Filter: text/html - {8293D547-38DD-4325-B35A-F1817EDFA5FC} - C:\Program Files\Cas\Client\casmf.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: Extensions - C:\WINDOWS\system32\PXNMAP.DLL

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

* Reboot into Safe Mode`: ( without networking support !)
°To get into the Safe mode as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key". Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.

* Doubleclick LQfix.bat that you saved on your desktop before.
A doswindow will open and close again, this is normal.

* Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them if still present:

C:\WINDOWS\JQXEENC.EXE
C:\Program Files\Cas <== folder
C:\WINDOWS\System32\exp
C:\WINDOWS\System32\exp.exe
C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate <== folder
C:\WINDOWS\System32\dsdhlp32.exe
C:\Program Files\BullsEye Network <== folder
C:\Program Files\Cas <== folder
C:\Program Files\CasStub <== folder

* Still in safe mode Start Ccleaner
click "Options", click the "Advanced" tab
Uncheck: "Only delete files older than 48 hrs.", click Ok
Click "Cleaner" and click Run Cleaner (bottom right)

* Open Ewido Security Suite
Click on scanner

* Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
* During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
* When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
* Save the report to your desktop

Close Ewido

* Reboot your system back to normal mode.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and I'll take another look.

Right now, her computer has Norton AV running alonside MS anti-spyware beta. She also has ewido on her computer; I didn't think it was actively scanning her computer, but hijackthis always shows that ewidoctrl.exe process running - I don't know what that means. Is this setup ok, or is it possible that these programs are screening each other, and in so doing leaving her open to infections?

Thanks!

Hello, looking much better but not done yet..

Ewido works as a guard in the background... but remember, this is a trial, so when the trial is expired, it won't do its job in the background anymore.

Anyway, let's deal with the stubborn look2me infection now..

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Hi,

Ok, let's proceed with next step. But one question first... did you get an error similar like: ''C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. choose close to terminate the application.." when running option 1 in L2Mfix??
I'm asking you this, because it can interfere with the next step and people forget to tell this. If so, Download and use next tool first:

http://www.visualtou...oads/xp_fix.exe

Reboot afterwards.

If you didn't get that error, just ignore above and proceed with next step:

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Extra note... after reboot and logging in, normally a screen will pop up and perform the rest of the fix and notepad opens automatically afterwards.
If that doesn't happen, you'll have to do it manually, so open your L2M-folder which is present on your desktop and doubleclick second.bat.
Let it run and notepad (log.txt) will open then. Copy and paste the contents of it in your next reply with a new hijackthislog.

Ok, that part is done now... let's start with the next fix. :tazz:

First of all, it seems like we need to restore your default winlogon.

Open your L2Mfix-folder and open the regfixes folder that is present there.
You'll see in that regfixes-folder next regfix: winlogondefaults.reg
Doubleclick on it and when it asks you if you want to merge the contents to the registry, click yes/ok.

It's better to print out the next instructions or save it in notepad, because you also have to work in safe mode without networking support, so this page wouldn't be available then.
It is also important you don't miss a step and perform everything in the right order!!

* Download LQfix.exe and place it on your desktop.
Doubleclick LQfix.exe and click install.
This will create a new folder called LQfix on your desktop.
Open the folder and doubleclick ClickThis.bat
Follow the prompts on the screen.
Your system will reboot afterwards.
Please be patient after reboot, because there is a script running in the background.

After reboot...

* Download and install CCleaner
Do not use it yet.

* Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AUNPS2] RUNDLL32 AUNPS2.DLL,_Run@16
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winsync] C:\WINDOWS\System32\ldlsps.exe reg_run
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [znwcic] C:\WINDOWS\System32\znwcic.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [System service63] C:\WINDOWS\etb\pokapoka63.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Aida] C:\Program Files\rdso\eetu.exe
O23 - Service: Command Service (cmdService) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\Q29sbGVlbiBMb25nbwAA\command.exe

* Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them if still present:

C:\WINDOWS\Q29sbGVlbiBMb25nbwAA <== folder
C:\Program Files\rdso <== folder
C:\WINDOWS\System32\AUNPS2.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\ldlsps.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\znwcic.exe

* Still in safe mode Start Ccleaner
click "Options", click the "Advanced" tab
Uncheck: "Only delete files older than 48 hrs.", click Ok
Click "Cleaner" and click Run Cleaner (bottom right)

* Reboot your system back to normal mode.

Download Find Q.zip and save it to your desktop.
http://forums.net-in...=post&id=153912

Extract (unzip) the files inside into their own folder called Find Q.
Look here how to unzip/extract properly:
http://metallica.gee...xplanation.html
Open the Find Q-folder.
Locate and double-click the Find Q.bat to run it.
Wait until notepad opens and copy and paste the content in your next reply together with a new hijackthislog.

the
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winsync] C:\WINDOWS\System32\ldlsps.exe reg_run
line is still there; The OS will not let me delete the file in question (even in safe mode). I've tried fixing it using HJT in both normal and safe mode and rebooting afterwards into safe mode to delete the file, and have not been fruitful. However, after the OS throws me an annoying error about not havving permission to delete it, the file disappears. And it does not reappear anywhere until I restart again. Meh.

Thanks.

Hi, Yes I know about that entry in hijackthis. That's why I asked you that find Q log, so we can deal with it. :tazz:

* Download Killbox.
Unzip it and Click killbox.exe.
Select the option "Delete on reboot".

Now copy the next bold:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONRES.CPL
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\JKJEA.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SDSFSSF.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\ldlsps.exe
C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\STARTM~1\PROGRAMS\STARTUP\NCNR.EXE

Open 'file' in the killboxmenu on top and choose Paste from clipboard

Now you will see, this is pasted in the "Full Path of File to Delete"-field.
There's a little arrow (dropdown-arrow) next to that field.
If you expand it, these lines must be there together if the files are present!

Then press the button that looks like a red circle with a white X in it.
Killbox will tell you that all listed files will be deleted on next reboot.. Click YES
When it asks if you would like to Reboot now, click YES
If you don't get that message, reboot manually.
Click No at the Pending Operations prompt.

Your computer must reboot now.

Check and fix next in hijackthis again:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winsync] C:\WINDOWS\System32\ldlsps.exe reg_run

Reboot once again and post a new hijackthislog.

Extra question, I see some leftovers from McAfee in your hijackthislog... Do you uninstall McAfee or did you delete McAfee manually?

Well it seems like Mcafee wasn't uninstalled properly, because still some items are left in the registry (services)... but we'll deal with that.

I see you installed Yahoo. Well, we need to fix some extra entries now..
I'm not going to touch your Yahoo, but some entries are not really wanted in your log -- the redclient parts -- :tazz:

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapp.../search/ie.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapp...//www.yahoo.com
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://red.clientapp...//www.yahoo.com
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapp.../search/ie.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapp...//www.yahoo.com
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapp...//www.yahoo.com
O23 - Service: Command Service (cmdService) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\Q29sbGVlbiBMb25nbwAA\command.exe (file missing)

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Open notepad and copy and paste next bold in it:

sc stop cmdService
sc delete cmdService
sc stop McShield
sc delete McShield
sc stop MCVSRte
sc delete MCVSRte

Save this as services.bat , choose to save as *all files and place it on your desktop.
This is how the batch must look after you created it: Posted Image
Doubleclick services.bat
A doswindow will open and close again, this is normal.

Reboot once again and post another hijackthislog as a final checkup. :)
