FileZilla appears on my desktop. But, I don't think I am putting the correct information in each field.

Example: The address field I entered members.cox.net;
in the User field I entered smaite65
in the password field I entered my password;
in the port field I entered 21.

Then I click on Quickconnect, but I get messages like unable to connect; or can't find the directory.

Please help me.

What is my "HOST Field"? I'm not sure. Where would I enter a "HOST Field"?

I'm in the process of creating a website; using my internet provider, Cox Cable.
My address is members.cox.net\smaite65??

I am trying to download FileZilla and I can't connect.

When prompted to put in the address field I put in ftp:/members.cox.net/smaite65
In the User Field: smaite65
In the Passwood Field: my password
In the Port Field: 21
When I click the "Quickconnect tab" the comment field indicates Members.cox.net is connected; but is prompting to put a password.

I'm not sure this is the correct information to be placed in those fields. I'm just following the directions displayed in the "Quick Guide" for FileZilla.

Follow these steps:

• Click "Site Manager..."
• Click "New Site" (name it whatever you want)
• Set the "new site" up the same as shown here:
Posted Image

• Click "Save and Exit"
• Click the arrown on the farthest button to the left (two computers with a globe in the background)
• Select your site from that dropdown list (it will be whatever you named it in step two)

• Let me know if its working

IF YOU WANT:
• In "Site Manager" you can click the radio button to make this site your default site so it auto connects when you click the connect button.

IMPORTANT:
• Remember your not using Quick connect at all

Distressed, disgusted and confused. ;)

Hi Ssone,

Sorry about the name mix-up. :tazz: The email I sent was for you. I just did not realize your name was Ssone. I told you I was new at this stuff.

I saw the name Jasper at the bottom of the page; in the review section.

Can you please comment on my concerns, Ssone. ;)

Try:

Hi Ssone and SoccerDad,

Sorry to tell you, but I've given up on FileZilla. I guess I don't have enough knowledge in the area of website design.... :)

It has made me very frustrated. ;)

It was fun working with you.

Thanks for your help.

With customers when it comes to FTP problems I or another specialist deal with them (obviously), which makes it a lot easier, usually on these forums I like to leave the person's password out of it until we've tried the basic stuff. If I knew you were going to give up I would've asked for the full ftp info sooner :tazz: .

If you still want to give it a shot you can e-mail me your log-in info and then change your password after were finished.

If you like the password you have then you can change it now then change it back when were done.

thoughts, questions?
