i have just put my computer on a home network and i cannot open any links. i can open as many browsers as i like and manually go to links but just cant click on them and open them.

when i click it opens a page but doesnt do anything with it. it stays blank and i get no status bar at the bottom to tell me if it is doing anything

i am running xp pro on boath systems, boath with nortan corp edit and ad-aware 6.0. i have run boath and neither of them come up with any probs.

any help would be great.

Are you sure you are surfing and not pulling cache pages??? Little more info - what is your internet connection technology (dsl, cable, satellite, etc) & router?

Check your ip by typing ipconfig in the dos prompt and if you get a valid ip try restarting your pc .

i have got a telstra broad band adsl connection
the modem connects to the other computer on the network then i run a small lan off of that that has a hub that connects my computer and 2 xboxes

the connections on the main computer is bridged

to my understatnding the main computer designates the ip's for my computer and everything that runs out of my 5 port dlink switch

checked the ip and it is valid. if it helps it is 10.0.0.3 subnetmask 255.255.255.0 and the default gateway is 10.0.0.138

ive read some of the other problems other ppl are having and downloaded firefox and that allowes me to open links but now the main computer is starting to do the same thing but not all the time

thanx for the help
